Questions & Answers
Question : How exactly do high school sports seasons work?
Ok im gonna be a freshman after summer vacation and i was planning on doing two sports, Cross country in the Fall and Wrestling in the winter. I've never really played sports before this so i have no idea at all how this all works. How exactly do the seasons work? Do you play a sport in one season and stop that sport after that season is over and move on to the next sport in the next season? IDK HELP D:

Answer:
see im from Baton Rouge & i go to Woodlawn High school. I play football but i tried wrestling & track. So with my school we work football everyday. During da season we have practice as normal but during off season we lift weights during 5th hour. then we do spring training for a week & take about 2 weeks off. When summer starts we do more summer work outs which is alot of running & lifting. yeah alot huh but dats jus football. now with wrestling our school wasnt known for wrestling so we jus did wrestlin only for da time between January to March & then track started so i had to do both at the same time. wrestling ended & it was time to do track meets. It was Over at da end of April for us & we ended until this week where we have to run & lift to get ready for track. so yeah it sound like a lot but its really not. im 6'2''. 235 lbs & not skinny so yeah. if u really like it u wont mind it

Question : What sports/physical activities are good for someone with Cystic Fibrosis?
I want to get my daughter involved in some good sports/physical activities. She's only 3 years old. She has Cystic Fibrosis. We live in New York and walk a lot, she gets out of breath often when we go for walks and walk up hills. But the doctors say its good for her to have to work her lungs. What are the best sports and other physical activities I should get her involved in?

Answer:
Regular exercise improves the health of people who have cystic fibrosis. Exercise helps loosen mucus, encourages coughing, improves oxygen flow, and makes you feel better. Upper body exercises, such as swimming or rowing, increase the strength and endurance of the muscles that are used for breathing. After talking to your doctor about how much exercise is good for your child, encourage your child to participate in sports and recreational activities. Team sports are great ways for your child to stay fit and to interact with other children. Talk to the coach or supervisor about your child's abilities and the important role of physical activity in the treatment of cystic fibrosis. Some people who have cystic fibrosis may not be strong enough to participate in certain activities. Your doctor can recommend the right amount and type of exercise for you. Or, you may work with a physical therapist to develop your own exercise routine.

Question : What sports are good before joining a military branch?
So you probably know from my questions, I want to be in the Marines. I use to play sports, football for 2 years. Then I quit. Should I sign up for football again? I wanna get in shape. Another sport I wanna try out is Karate. I never tried it but it looks really fun. But i dont know if its a sport. And wrestling, I hate it. Never liked it. So which do you think is bettar, Football or Karate?

Answer:
Both would be good in physical conditioning. I would say the ideal would be karate with maybe cross-country or track with a good regiment of weight lifting. I imagine this would put you in perfect cardiovascular and strength condition, and karate would offer mental discipline and attentiveness.

Question : How much money does the average person make in sports marketing?
I will receive my bachelors in sport management from Ohio University with a minor in business and am looking to find a job in a sport marketing firm primarily in Chicago or a large city. I am interested in working in marketing or sponsorship and want to focus more on business rather than sports if that makes any sense. I am looking to work in the highest paid part of the sports industry but am not quite sure if sports marketing is it. Also, if any one knows any great sport marketing firms please list. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Answer:
Im doing a degree in marketing and we were told theres big monry in sports sponsorship, starting at about €50,000 per year!

Question : Are sports important on your high school resume when applying to go to a college?
I am wondering because I am very athletic, however I am not sure if I want to participate in any sports. I take on a lot of leadership skills, extracurricular activities, and I am practically valedictorian, but just how important are sports on your resume?

Answer:
Colleges like it if you played sports in high school because it shows that you are a team player and that you have school spirit. It's not necessarily better than other extracurriculars, but it does look good to colleges.

Question : How do sports like fencing or archery work in colleges?
let's explain better.Im going to graduate high school, would like to do either of these sports, if these sports are available at a college can I participate in them even if I have never practiced the sport. The colleges on which im planning to attend do not specify anything and apparently they are not intramural. My high school does not offer these sports and neither does my town.

Answer:
While I do not have experience with college archery and/or fencing teams, I do have experience with archery and fencing done by college students. If the college(s) you are looking at do(es) not offer archery and/or fencing, you should find out if there is an SCA (Society for Creative Anachronisms, Inc.) branch located at/affiliated with the college(s) you are interested in. The SCA, because its main focus is the study and re-creation/re-enactment of the Middle Ages, incorporates archery and fencing into its activities -- and most major colleges (and many community colleges) have an on-campus SCA presence. The good part is that you do not have to join the SCA to take part in the archery/fencing, unless you want to join.I have been involved in archery for more than 30 years, spent ten of those years with SCA archery, and have tried SCA fencing. Don't let anyone fool you into thinking that fencing is easy or for "sissies", because it is neither -- and SCA fencing is only slightly more strenuous than Olympic fencing (the main difference is Olympic fencing is limited to back-and-forth; In SCA fencing, you get to move around and use some foot-work).Visithttp://sca.org/and find out if there is a group affiliated with/located at the college of your choice. Then send an e-mail, and ask questions about archery and fencing.

Question : sports????????
what are your favorite sports? do you excersise? how many times a week?i love sports!!!!!!!!! i especially love soccer, track and snowboarding, do you know any sports that aren't common?

Answer:
My favorite sport is definitely soccer (football)!Unfortunately I don't play soccer since I had knee problems but I row and I swin a lot. Rowing 4 days a week during summer (in Canada) and swimming from 1 to 5 times a week (more during the winter).I wish I knew why I'm so addicted to footie... Anyway it's the best sport in the world!

Question : What sports are easy to learn and be good at?
I'm a teenage girl and sadly never really played sports, I now wanna pick up on extra activities. What sports are easier to join? I have flat feet and am not a great runner which I know is a disadvantage... I'm average sized, and taller. I started going to the gym to get in better shape. Also, anyone have an idea for a good instrument to play? I'm a real beginner and need to learn music notes etc again. I wanna play piano.... Any suggestions?

Answer:
That's like how i used to be i hated sports and i never played any sports, i couldn't run either (and still can't) but last year I decided to get into competitive cheerleading. Its fun and you can join a level one or recreational team (they still compete) without having any previous tumble experience at all! I started barely being able to do a cartwheel! You will pick up on motions easily, high V, Low V, T, Clean, Clasp, touchdown etc, etc... Jumps are easy enough to learn (Toe touch, pike, T jump, Hurdler) they just take time to perfect, Stunting is a little harder if your on the short side you can be a flyer (the one that is lifted up) If you are at medium height you will be a side base, and if your taller a back or front spot. Don't worry you wont have to jump around cheesily with pom poms chanting "go team, GO!" this is competitive cheerleading... A whole world away from those girls you see on the sidelines of Football games.

Question : Sports!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?
well... im 14 years old going into high school and i never been in sports b4 and my dad keeps pushing me to join in sports how can i get ready to join sports what should i do to get in shape? and tips plz...

Answer:
You should totally do track. I had to go through the same thing, because my doctor said so and I don't know how to thank her. All sports make you try out and they break you heart if you don't make it. Track is different. You don't have to try out and you make so many friends. You get into shape and you never feel left out. Everybody on your team goes through the same experience, whether its being tired from practices or joy from winning, it's all fun. The first week might be tough and you might one to quit, but it all gets easier. After the first two weeks of practices, you'll want to go track more than ever. And it's not all running, there's jumping and throwing to. I would recommend throwing because it's easier, funner, and you feel like family with the other throwers. Well good luck choosing!

Question : What is the difference between sky sports 1 and 2 for the world cup cricket?
I want to watch the world cup cricket on sky sports. What is the difference between sky sports 1 and 2? I am asking as it is obviously more expensive to get both.Should I get both if I don't want to miss a match or is everything going to be broadcast on sky sports 1. Does sky sports 1 normally carry the more important live event and 2 is used for the secondary sport? Like if there is golf and cricket on at the same time. All sounds to me as if sky did this to make more money out of sport deprived souls stuck on Freeview or Freesat.

Answer:
Most of the Cricket World Cup matches are on Sky Sports 1, however if there is live Premier League football or another big match then the cricket does get moved to Sky Sports 2. Also when there are two matches on the same day which overlap the lesser match can be followed using the red button service.
