Question : What Is Wrong with the game that is Lawn Bowls?
Why do people when i tell them that i play lawn bowls always seem to laugh because i am 21 and im playing a game that is perceived as being an old mans sport, there are plenty of young people playing the game these days but some of them are ashamed to play it or tell their friends that they play it in fear of being teased about it?
Answer:
Whats wrong with lawn bowls? who cares what anybody thinks. You enjoy it thats all that matters. Listen I'm an astronomer and a wild life photographer who happens to read books with big words in 'em i also like computers and computer games I'm 36 and work in construction, i've heard it all. I'm a peeping tom who watches porn and i use my telescope because I'm a perve who likes to watch neighbours undress. 20 years of this crap and everybody who says the same thing thinks they're the first to say it! I meet every smart as's comment with an equally offensive comment "yeah next time i'm pervin yer ma make sure shes got clean knickers on, fuc'ks sake i could count the corn in her pants!" let them tease all they want but sometimes teasing is just jealousy masked as a dumb put down. But you'll find once you hit them back with a scathing remark they'll suddenly become interested in your hobby or pastime.

Question : What kind of games do seniors like to play?
Okay so besides Bingo and Bridge what other games are enjoyed by older people? It needs to be a game that can be played in doors and one that doesn't require too many accessories to play - so don't say lawn bowling :PThank you!
Answer:
I don't know about other people, but I like most kinds of card games & was a fanatic about card games & board games as a kid. For card games, I like canasta, crazy eight, gin rummy, Touring, Flinch, hearts, blackjack (with matches or just chips, not money), & solitaire. For board games, I like backgammon, India (Parcheesi), Keyword (similar to scrabble only better), & monopoly, & maybe yahtze & blockhead & Chinese checkers are ok. I hate chess. Would probably be willing to try dominos again. We only played a few times as kids. As an adult, a family I knew had a board game called Who Said That? & it was great. It was discontinued, though...probably too intellectual for most folks. Ah, well.No Bingo or Bridge for me, please. I'll pass on those. When I visited my mother as she got older, she usually had a big jigsaw puzzle set up on her dining table. I always said I didn't like them, but then I'd get lured in, especially if it was a pretty picture like a picture of a sun room with hanging plants or maybe a map of the world, which is a fun one. I guess they're addictive or something.I guess ping-pong might be ok. I'd sure try it with Daisy, though I haven't played it since I was a kid. We had a set we could attach to our big wooden kitchen table. The cat liked it, too.Oh, you know what was really fun as a kid? Lining up the dominos around the living room so we could push one & watch the chain reaction. I wouldn't mind getting down on the floor & doing that again. Some low benches & throw pillows might be good if I were down on the floor, though. I could do it without, but it might make it more comfortable.Maybe we should get some exercise, either the type with chairs or maybe just put on some music & dance, partner or not...Just don't have some aerobics instructor or tape unless it's low-impact. Bleah!Freerice.com is good. So is yourchildlearns.com/geography with online puzzle pieces of countries to move into place. Try learning the 50 countries of Africa or Europe or maybe all of Asia. Lots of fun.Whatever you do, have fun & have snacks.

Question : why it is 0-15 or 15-30 or 30-40 in lawn tennis instead of 0-1, 0-2 or 0-3 in other such games?
why it is 0-15 or 15-30 or 30-40 in lawn tennis instead of 0-1, 0-2 or 0-3 in other such games?
Answer:
The origins of the fifteen, thirty, forty scores are believed to have medieval and French roots. It is possible a clock face was used on court, with a quarter move of the hand to indicate a score of fifteen, thirty, and forty-five. When the hand moved to sixty, the game was over. Another explanation is that the scoring system was copied from the game sphairistike, which was played by British officers in India during the 19th century. That game's scoring system was based on the different gun calibres of the British naval ships. When firing a salute, the ships first fired their 15-pound guns on the main deck, followed by the 30-pound guns of the middle deck, and finally by the 40-pound lower gun deck. Also, this from wikipedia- "Another theory is that the scoring nomenclature came from the French game jeu de paume (a precursor to tennis that substituted the racquet for a hand). Jeu de paume was very popular before the French revolution, with more than 1000 courts in Paris alone. The traditional court was 90ft in total with 45ft on each side. When the server scored, he/she moved forward 15ft. If he/she scored again, he/she would move another 15ft. If he/she scored a third time, he/she could only move 10ft closer. The origin of the use of "love" for zero is also disputed; it is possible that it derives from the French word for the egg (l'œuf) because an egg looks like the number zero. "Love" is also said to derive from "l'heure" or "the hour" (more likely to be translated as "the time") in French. Another possibility of the origin comes from the Dutch "iets voor lof doen," which means to do something for nothing. The word 'lof' (nothing) has changed over time to 'love'."Hope that helps!
