Answer:
The only way to connect to your receiver is through the headphone jack. The headphone jack output level will vary with the volume control. The amp puts out 170 watts into 8 ohms and the receiver puts out 100 watts. That difference will be noticeable but not dramatic.

It's probably not wise to ask Classical musicians about electric instruments. Unless you are ready for the answers they provide.An electric cello in the hands of a learner is a poor substitution for an acoustic instrument. It may look cool, but it will not behave as a true cello does, it does not have the same physical shape and doesn't provide the same feedback through the fingerboard and body that a cello does. It is a poor compromise of an instrument. Especially true of the low end 300-400 euro instruments. That said, you boy is probably bratty enough that he'll reject anything "old fashioned" and will give up on cello more quickly if he has to use an acoustic instrument. That said, any string teacher worth his salt would guide him in the same direction. You learn on the instrument, not on the approximation of an instrument. ... then again, perhaps it is wise to ask Classical musicians.
