Questions & Answers
Question : What is the key to solving slider puzzles?
I am doing the Monkey Madness quest on Runescape and I can not figure out how to do the puzzle! I am also not spending 200K just to have the puzzle done for me. Is there a secret or key to this slider puzzle? Everyone else says it is very easy to do the slider puzzle, but I just SUCK at slider puzzles. I REALLY need help. PELASE HELP!

Answer:
Tips1) Plan your moves in advance, you'll start seeing where exactly you need to move pieces to get it to match2) Try breaking it up to parts, don't try to complete the puzzle in 1 go. See if you can complete a corner.

Question : What are the advantages of doing puzzles?
What are the advantages of doing puzzles? I like doing puzzles, but I feel like it's a waste of time, but doing puzzles is better than watching tv right?

Answer:
It might depend on they type of puzzle what kind of benefits it has. I know that retired people that do crosswords are much less likely to develop Alzheimer's disease and that anyone that regularly uses their brain for something besides passively absorbing whatever the TV puts out is exercising it. I started doing crosswords when my son was a toddler and would watch Barney, the big purple annoying dinosaur on TV. It was the only way I could be in the same room with it and have been doing them since. I think it helps keep me alert and focused. Lately, I've been answering a lot of questions here because I have some experience, enjoy challenges, and find this is a way to keep myself occupied, learn new things, and maybe even help people.Everyone needs time to relax and doing crosswords or jigsaw puzzles are a great, environmentally friendly, cheap, physically neutral (as opposed to drugs), and low stress way to accomplish it. You don't necessarily get much done when you're reading either, but it's still better than most of the nonsense on television, right? There's nothing wrong with wasting time, we all need to do it in order to help us recharge ourselves and puzzles speed the process up.

Question : What type of puzzles are good for a 12 month old baby?
I read some babies are doing puzzles at 12 months old, just wondering what type of puzzles are good for this age and what type other babies this age are doing. If you can post some links to the kind of puzzles that would be great.

Answer:
Puzzles with shapes or numbers or whatever cut into them. Preferably with big chunky handles or chunky style instead of nubs. Like this: http://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-Wooden-Chunky-Puzzle/dp/B000E9DPCW/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and- games&qid=1254391764&sr=8-6

Question : What are some puzzles like Sudoku that I can get online?
I like puzzles like Sudoku, Add Them Up (found in a newspaper), kakuro and anything like them. I also like the puzzles that you have to try and draw without taking your pencil off the paper. But I need them to be able to print off so I can do them away from the computer. Any websites that have any of these puzzles would be helpful. Or if you know anyother puzzles like these that would be fun you could mention them too.

Answer:
This site is GREAT!!! You can print them off and there are LOTS of them!. They are also grouped by easy, intermediate, hard, etc. I love Sudoku too.www.krazydad.com/sudokuThere are also other types of puzzles on there at:http://www.krazydad.com/puzzles/

Question : How do you keep your cats off your puzzles in progress?
My daughter and I have a table in the living room where we like to keep out, with our puzzles that we are working on. We dont like putting them away everytime, because its much more inviting to work on if its already out and easily accessable. Our cats love to jump on the table and knock out pieces onto the floor and just destroy our progress. Does anyone know if there are anything like "puzzles protectors" out there that I can make or buy...like a cover of some sort? A towel or sheet doesnt work.

Answer:
you can get these really greqat puzzle mats that you work on your puzzle and just roll it up when your not using it. you cna still keep it on the table to remind you but the cats cannot get at the peices.

Question : Is there something else I can use besides puzzle glue to hold my puzzles together?
A while back I was in Wal-Mart buying a puzzle and they had this stuff to hold your puzzles together but instead of being the regular glue it was like a big sticker sheet that you stuck to the back of the finished puzzle. I didn't buy it then and now I wish I had because since then I am unable to find it again. Has anybody ever heard of this stuff and do you know what its actually called?

Answer:
One alternative would be acrylic medium. It comes in mat and glossy. One would paint this on the finished puzzle sort of gluing it together. This is the stuff artists use when they want to thin the color of acrylic paint they are using but want more body than water. This can normally be found by the artist's paint section.

Question : what brand of puzzles comes with different shaped pieces in the same puzzle?
My Mom likes 500 piece puzzles and I want to buy her a quality one. The problem she has is that a lot of them have all the pieces cut the same. She likes the ones that are shaped odd or at least different throughout the puzzle. I've read online but really don't see my question answered. Thanks to anyone that responds.

Answer:
Ravensburger has lots of differently shaped pieces guaranteed.

Question : What do you do with puzzles which you have completed? Is there such thing as a puzzle swap club?
I just got into doing jig-saw puzzles and I am wondering what I can do with the ones I have completed. They are so beautiful and I don't have the space to hang them up, and it seems such a shame to let something so nice sit in a box. I wonder if there is such a thing where you can swap puzzles with fellow puzzlers?

Answer:
you can use puzzle glue and then it to a Picter then frame it on a wall

Question : What is a good website to buy really nice jigsaw puzzles?
I am looking for a 5,000 piece puzzle. I am having a hard time finding a nice one. I always go to peoples' houses and they have really nice puzzles hanging up. Where do they get them? Anyone know any good websites?

Answer:
I like Bits and Pieces. Here's a link to their page that has puzzles with 3,000 or more pieces: http://www.bitsandpieces.com/category.asp_Q_c_E_24

Question : What age did your child put together jigsaw puzzles?
My son is 4 and loves to put together 150-200 piece puzzles. He will sit for hours on end and focus only on his puzzle. He was treated for speech problems at age 2-3. Is this normal for a four year old to concentrate so long? Do you think he is on the autism spectrum? Thanks.

Answer:
This one sign alone would not cause me to think he might be on the spectrum, although it is very unusual for a 4 year old to be interested in 200 pc puzzles for hours without wanting help/getting frustrated. I have an almost 5 year old who happens to be ahead of her peers intellectually, but she would NEVER spend hours on one puzzle. However, her sister who is 2 years younger and not nearly as ahead at this age, is MUCH better at puzzles than she is!Have you googled it and looked for other signs of autism or autism spectrum disorder? I understand your concern, but he could just be a very cognitive little boy! Apparently, my brother was playing chess with my dad by age 5 and was very good at it! He's not at all autistic, just very, very intelligent and very in to "mind" games (AKA the intellectual type). Maybe you just have a little "genius" on your hands!
