Questions & Answers
Question : Do theaters lower the temperature when showing horror movies?
Am I the only one that feels like the temperature is much colder in theaters showing horror movies? I seem to remember hearing a theory that cinemas will lower the temperature to put people on edge so as to scare more easily. Just wondering if anyone has heard/confirmed that theory or just noticed a difference.

Answer:
it stays a constant temperature for all films,.......

Question : What happens to the money movie theaters make off of ticket sales?
I've always been told that movie theaters don't make money off of ticket sales. They make money off of their concession stands and other stuff. So what do they do with the money they make off of ticket sales?

Answer:
A large percentage of ticket sales goes back to the studio. The theatre keeps some, but it's a small percentage. That's why it costs so much to get a drink at the movie theatre: it's a way bigger source of income for the theatre.

Question : How did Movie Theaters operate in the days of short cartoons?
Back in the 20s-60s when short form cartoons like The Looney Tunes, Mickey Mouse, Tom and Jerry and the rest, and even when short films for adults like those of Charlie Chaplin were popular were shown in theaters, how did tickets work? Surely a kid didn't buy a ticket to see just a 7 minute film. So how did it work? Day passes? Hourly prices?

Answer:
There would be a variety of films/movies/cartoons shown at each sitting so you'd get a couple of hours of entertainment for the price of your ticket.

Question : Does adding amplifier be damaging to my Home Theaters speaker?
I'm planning to boast up my Home Theaters speaker, so I'd decided to buy a Sony amplifier. If I connect the speakers of my Home Theater to the amplifier, will that damage the speaker? Do I need to buy speakers for the amplifier?

Answer:
It all depends on what equipment you are talking about. If you have a cheap box system - the parts are NOT always designed to let you swap parts in and out. Some of cheap speakers will destroy a amp because they were only designed to work with the receiver/dvd player combo that came with the set.You dont want to buy an 'amp' but you want to buy a home theater receiver.

Question : What are some theaters in CT that are open for auditions ?
I've never acted in theater before and am trying to get more experience in acting by starting with theater , are there any theaters around that'll except that . Especially for the spring .My parents have already agreed to letting me do this . They just asked me to look for theaters , but in dont know which ones will except me or how or where to start .

Answer:
the cindy nieves theatre

Question : How much does it cost for theaters to rent movies?
I was reading about how movie theaters make so much off of the ticket sales, and I was wondering if this is due to some sort of rental fee covering cost. I heard that the movie theaters have to rent the movies it plays n the theaters, and it costs them thousands in rentals per movie theater. I thought the movie theaters profit was purely concession.

Answer:
Theatre profit isn't PURELY concessions, but its a huge chunk. We have to pay a percentage of ticket sales to the film companies. I've seen it as high as 80% (for the first week of Spiderman 2) That means that when you pay your $10, we only got $2. A full house of 200 tickets sold LOOKS LIKE $2000 dollars that we made, but we only got $200. Typically, its around 60-65% for the first week of a movie, then it goes down a bit each week after that.

Question : Do you like the commercials in the movie theaters?
Do you like the commercials at the beginning of the previews in the movie theaters? Why or why not? Do you think it takes away from your movie theater experience? What would you like to see to take place of commercials, if anything, that would bring back or enhance your movie experience?

Answer:
I love the previews but I dislike the commercials.I think more previews should show.In fact the previews for upcoming movies are the highlight of the movie experience nowadays.

Question : What do movie theaters do with their movie posters when a movie is no longer playing at the theater?
You know the movie posters that some theaters still post outside each theater at a movie theater. Can I ask for one or can they give it to me at a low price when a movie is done playing? What do they do with them?

Answer:
They give their employees first pick. If you ask (and I have on several occasions) they are more than willing to give them away after their employees have picked through them. That's how I get my movie posters :DIf no one claims them, they are thrown away.

Question : What kind of oil and seasoning do movie theaters use for their popcorn?
Microwave theater popcorn just doesn't cut it.And do theaters use a special type of popcorn kernels?

Answer:
I used to work at a theater but I can't give you like brand names or anything I know we used just plain oil with butter flavoring mixed into it (from te factory like that) and just poured it in the popcorn lolhealthy :)

Question : Approximately how many months in advance do most theaters start selling tickets?
Not movie theaters, more like the Orange County Performing Arts Theater or the Pantages.

Answer:
It often depends on the theatre, but it is most likely to be a month or two beforehand. If it's a professional theatre (meaning that the actors are paid), then they're more likely to have tickets selling earlier. Have fun at the play!
