Questions & Answers
Question : How does an air hand pump work?
I have been planning to make a marshmallow gun with a hand pump for the launch and a trigger to release. I've found out air hand pumps are expensive. Is there any way to make an air hand pump?
Answer:
I don't know how much money you have or how much pressure you need, but I have a plastic hand pump that fills up an air mattress and it was pretty cheap. It's not that great a pressure but it is high volume. I just looked on line and saw one for $5. You might find the materials for making one are more expensive than that.

Question : How do I break my habit of curling my hand round my pen when I write?
"It can be difficult for left-handed children to learn to write if the teacher does not take the student's left-handedness into account. When properly done, left-handed writing is a mirror image to that of the right-hander, making the teaching process confusing for the teacher (if right-handed) of a left-handed student. The result is that many left-handed people learn to write with their hand curled around the pen so that it can meet the paper at the same angle as the right hander, rather than simply tilt the paper the opposite way. Once this habit is formed, it is difficult to break. This curling of the hand results in the heel of the palm being placed behind the writing, forcing the writer to lift it off the paper and making the grip even more awkward. When the left hand is held correctly, it is below the writing, as is typical for right-handers."I have thhis problem and I'm 15 years old, how can I break this habit?
Answer:
I'm left-handed and I do exactly the same thing. I honestly don't think it's a big deal, unless you're handwriting is terrible. Get your friends - if you sit next/near them, in most classes, to tell you. If all else fails, try writing out lines with your mom or dad or guardian to tell you if you're curling your hand. Some people are just born that way, though. I've heard you can get special "grips" (I used to have them). I guess they work for some people (although I wound up putting them in the trash in frustration). Try looking into them.

Question : How do I hand wash a hand made fleece shrug?
I recently bought a hand made fleece shrug and it says to only hand wash the clothing. After wearing it to the club a couple times it has become...ripe. I don't want to damage the clothing by washing it improperly. What is the best way to hand wash it?I do not have enough money to buy laundry or lingerie bags to put my shrug in while washing it. So this needs to be a cheap easy way to wash something.
Answer:
In a bucket with laundry soap and start using your hands to mix it in. You'll probably want to hang dry it.

Question : What makes Alcohol and Hand sanitizer a good cleaning product?
our class did a lab and it turned out that alcohol and hand sanitizer were the best cleaning products for hands. Bleach was the worst cleaning product. Why did this happen? What is in alcohol and/or hand sanitzer that makes them a better cleaning product for hands that is not in bleach?
Answer:
Not sure where this was done, but I took a Microbiology class with Prof. McCutcheon at Massasoit Community College & hand sanitizer actually just brings whatever germs/bacteria,etc. to the surface & it stays there til you actually wash them off. It's more dangerous. It's better to use soap & warm water; it's the friction that helps get rid of things. It's the chemical make-up of alcohol that makes it so good. I highly recommend you speak with a Chemistry teacher or professor for that. I also recommend Dr. Marganian at Bridgewater State College, who is a great Chemistry professor.

Question : What happens if a left handed is forced to use the right hand?
Where could i find more info about this interesting subject? Let's say a kid is born left-handed, but his parents force him to use his right hand, to be "normal, like everyone else". I know the hand thing is a result of some reversed influence from the brain, but what happens with/inside the brain if forced otherwise?
Answer:
There is an interesting research article that came out today, that shows there is a genetic factor in left-handedness. The reason some people refuse to use their right hand is the DNA forces them to.

Question : What kind of specialized hand doctor will measure strength in hand?
I need Doctor to analyze and provide written strength and grip test on my hand. Severely injured on active duty and the VA keeps refusing my claim saying it is just physically looks different, but no proof my hand is weaker. I provided PT documents with a therapists measurements but they (VA) says it a physical therapist is not "qualified" to make recommendations...this has been going on for almost 7 years...any help would be great!
Answer:
Physical therapists and occupational therapists commonly measure hand strength via dynamometer. This should be all you need to demonstrate evidence of a disability...with or without a "recommendation."However, a hand surgeon might also have one in the office they can use.
