Questions & Answers
Question : What is the difference between a private preschool and a public preschool?
I ask because I have never heard of a free preschool and I just learned that my daughter's preschool is considered a private preschool. It has no religious affiliation so I know that isn't the difference.Thanks.So looking around the internet I learned that a private preschool is a prepartory preschool. I thought all preschools where intended as such?O.K. so is a public preschool the same as a headstart program?

Answer:
MONEY $$ ANYTHING PRIVATE WHETHER RELIGION AFFILIATED OR NOT YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR.. BUT IT ALSO MEANS SMALLER CLASS SIZES AND ATTENTIVE TEACHERS

Question : What are the requirements to become a preschool teacher in FL?
Right now I'm working on a bachelors in legal studies but, I would like to teach also. So do I get a masters in education, certificate in preschool education, or associates in preschool education? BTW: I prefer the credentials for a private school but, would like to know about public and private. Thanks.

Answer:
First, finish your BA. Then, decide which level you want to teach. Educational requirements are determined by each state, so you can go online to the FL dept of education and find the info you need. If you're sure you want to teach preschool, then go visit a good one and ask them what the best path would be. The better your credentials, the higher the salary you can command.

my daughter just turned 2 last month. I am now thinking about putting her into preschool. i was planning on letting her go for 3 days a week half day only. i want her to adjust to the new enviroment and if everything goes good then put her full time soon then i can start working. she still wears diapers and is still using a bottle, do u think its too soon... any suggestions? thankshalf day hours are 9 to 3

Answer:

Question : What do I need to be able to teach preschool in Texas?
I have a degree in early childhood education. After graduating someone offered me a job in retail. I don't have any experience other than my one year practice in college. It's been 4 years after graduating. I am planning on moving to Texas by the end of June. What do I need to become a preschool teacher in Texas?Do I need a certification or anything other than my College diploma? What are my chances of finding a job as a preschool teacher without any experience in Education?Thank you!

Answer:
If you want to work in a private pre-school (glorified daycare), you don't even need a degree, although it will certainly help. However, the public school districts that offer pre-school classes (pre-k3, pre-k4, etc.) are laying experienced, certified teachers off left and right, so your chances of working there are practically non-existent. I have friends with Masters of Education degrees, teaching certificates and years of public school teaching experiences who are now back in college preparing themselves for a different career field.Life is changing rapidly everywhere. A teaching certificate or education degree used to mean lifelong employment security. Those days are over. Good luck!

Question : What are the costs of preschool in your area?
I'm not talking about daycare, but preschool. I want my daughter to go to preschool this fall, before she starts kindergarten next year. I really think it will help her out and get her ready for kindergarten. Preschool is only a couple of hours a day, usually 2 or 3 days out of the week. Well, my husband is starting to freak out that it's just going to cost too much for her to go. I think he's being ridiculous, it's not like we're paying for college at age four!

Answer:
Preschool in our area which is called Headstart is free. The children go to school half a day, five days a week.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_Starthttp://www.nhsa.org/Call in your area to see if there is one near you.

Question : How do I make my preschool a private preschool?
I'm planning to open my own preschool hopefully in the next two years, but I would like it to be a private preschool. I don't want to have to deal with DHR. It will not be a religous school, only private. How can I do this?

Answer:
contact your state department of education for information

Question : How can I decorate my preschool classroom in a camping theme?
I teach preschool, and I have four year olds. The theme for next semester in my class is camping and the outdoors and I need ideas of ways to incorporate that into my classroom. My class is kind of small, but I need any ideas anyone has to help. I love my kids and really want to make this as fun and special or them as I can!!!

Answer:
You might want to make your reading corner out of a little pup-tent. If you put a kid size sleeping bag in the pup-tent a child can lie down while reading (and still be visible- which is always a good thing. You can also use one or two camp chairs (especially if you get the kid size ones) for them to sit in while they read.Add this to the campfire idea mentioned by another reader and you have a whole camp site.Check with your local free-cycling group (there are a lot of these groups on Yahoo Groups) for free sources for some of these items. You can also go to Goodwill, or Thrift Shops. That way you can amaze the children without breaking the bank.If you are allowed to, you can make some trees out of twisted butcher paper, (large carpet rolls are also an alternative). Then you could fasten stuffed animals like raccoons or owls in the tree's branches. You could also try to find some bulletin board sets that go with your theme to add continuity to the room. The animal friends calendar set below is one possibility. And you could post the kids names on the bears in canoes accents under a heading that reads something likeMiss _____________'s Happy CampersGood luck with the new school year!

Thanks for the helpI mean soonthe only school where I live is called st marks and its now a charter school! they do not offer pre-kher b-day is in december you have to be 5 by the 30 of aug

Answer:
Preschool has advantages and disadvantages. Whether or not it is right for your daughter is largely dependent upon her personal strengths and weaknesses, as well as the school you might send her to.Some of the advantages of preschool are a structured environment, varied activities (including scholastics, art, and science as well as play), the opportunity to practice social skills (especially turn-taking), and the opportunity to develop confidence being independent. A good preschool will encourage all areas of growth and include them all in their programs. Some of the disadvantages of preschool are the cost, loss of parent-child interaction time, and the opportunity to develop negative social skills. A child who goes to preschool/day care is more likely to initiate aggression in grade school than one who stays in a family setting. While a case can be made for a child standing up for him/herself, no parent wants their child to be a bully.Go with your gut on this one, as you know your daughter best and can be trusted to make the best decision for her.

Question : What are some good preschool crafts and activities that I can do with my students?
I teach in an inclusive preschool that has both typical students and students with special needs between the ages of 2.5 and 5. I am looking for some activities or crafts that focus on the letter C or D. Any ideas from projects that your children have done in preschool are welcome. Thanks.

Answer:
Cclay (work with clay to build fine motor skills)collages (let the kids rip tissue paper, cut pictures, etc)candy catchers (take jolly rancher hard candy and put them in a zip-pie bag. one for each child. let the kids crush them with a small mallet. put a cookie cutter on a piece of wax paper and let the child fill with candy. bake until the candy has melted. glue a string to the back. sun-catchers!!)cookies (let the kids add the ingredients and mix, then bake)Ddraw with crayons, markers, chalkdance to musicdecorate something (baby food jar: cut small pieces of tissue paper. water down some glue and let the kids paint on the pieces of tissue. overlap them. looks like stained glass. great for presents)decorate a hat (have each child bring a hat (or white shirt) from home to decorate with fabric paints, sequins, etc.
