Question : Does anyone here know where to find Alphabet Blocks and Beginning Reading (Old win 3.1 programs) ...?
to use with Windows XP? They were made by Sierra -- Bright Star Technology, Inc several years ago. I have used a number of beginning reader programs with my kids and they just aren't as well suited to actual use by a young child. These two programs were excellent. I have the original disks, but I am looking for something that I can use with our present family computer -- which happens to be Windows XP. Please help me find a source for these older programs. Thank you to all Answerers who can help with this.Doesn't anyone ever update these old programs? It's a shame to let them become obsolete. Some of these games were classics. What about Lode Runner? That was originally for Commodore 64. I know it was updated for use on Windows (x vers). Any ideas? Is there no way to update and/or run an old program?

Answer:
Even if you could find them, they were not made beyond Windows 3.1. And I'm sure as you discovered Windows 3.1 programs do not work very well with Windows XP. The reason is that DOS is completely gone from Windows XP because XP is based on the NT Kernel which was used in Windows 2000 and improved with Windows XP. DOS (and its GUI overlay, Windows 3.1) was 16-bit, Windows 95 was a 16-bit/32-bit hybrid, Windows XP is solely 32-bit and as I said has no traces of DOS left in it but it does have a command line that LOOKS like DOS.Explanations why it won't work aside, Download.com has some free programs you might try (there are also paid ones as well but I limited the search to freeware), http://www.download.com/3120-2001_4-0-1-0.html?qt=alphabet&author=&titlename=&desc=&dlcount=&daysbac k=&swlink=&gfiletype=&os=&li=49&dlsize=&ca=&x=13&y=7

Answer:
The "n" can be a "u" when turned upside down and the "m" can be a "w".Also in uppercase, The "N" could be a "Z".

Question : can someone help me find nursery alphabet blocks?
I am trying to create a iron-on for my t-shirt that says "SPANK ME" in alphabet blocks. please help

Answer:
If you search on Google Images you shouldn't have any trouble finding the blocks you need. I searched on "alphabet blocks" and found many images. You might do better search for individual letters too.Best Wishes~Annette M. Hallhttp://LocalHS.com/

Question : Is there lead in the paint on children's wooden alphabet blocks made in China?
Is there lead in the paint on children's wooden alphabet blocks made in China?

Answer:
If they're new, then chances are that they're safe. However, if you don't know the age or want to be sure, you can get a lead paint swab kit at a hardware store or Lowe's or Home Depot. I've used them many times myself...they're for detecting lead paint on surfaces, typically in an old house. Basically you swab the surface (in this case of the block you are suspicious of) and if the end of the swab turns blue or purple (depending on the brand of the lead swab that you use) it is reacting with lead in the paint on the surface of the block. The kits are not expensive...I think I've gotten mine for under ten bucks. Good luck to you!

It is obscure rumor that it represented the"'Father's Prayer". Does this ring a Grecian Bell or could someone with a hunch answer back? Thankyou!

Answer:
