the tree releases little dropplets that stain absolutely everything, from plants to cars to furniture. it all becomes black!! the backyard furniture (chair cushions) seem to be permanently stained. tried soap, bleach, peroxide, but nothing removed it.

What you've got is fungus (sooty mold) moving in on aphid droppings. What are the cushions made of? Hi, The Krylon paint is called fusion, while it is made for plastics it will also work on wood, metal etc. Apply in thin coats for faster drying & a smooth finish.

Question : How to protect new outdoor furniture?
I just bought a couple of natural color rocking chairs. They look like they've been stained and not sealed with some protective treatment. What's the best product to use to protect my rockers from fading in the sun, the rain, and general cracking due to possible weather damaging?

You could get some plastic tarp coverings to insulate against the rain. Maybe there's some kind of varnish you can buy to strenghten the material.

Question : How to make an outdoor table and chairs?
Okay well my Mum bought a cheap set of outdoor table + chairs for half price.. but it was glass and after a week it smashed from the umbrella being in it even though it was supposed to last well.. luckily she was able to get her money back but the sale is not on anymore so all the table settings are really expensive.. my mum was really happy to have somewhere nice and comfy to sit as she'd been wanting an outdoor table + chairs for years. So I thought I could build her a wooden set for christmas.. I have no building experience but my Dad said he'd help me and we can do it at his house.. he has built a barbecue table before but said he doesn't really know how to make the individual chairs and that. Does anyone have any tips? I think that if you don't have any building experience you are way out of your league. you need so many different tools to do something like that and unless you make a table a week then they will not pay for themselves. The easiest thing to build is a swing for two. Its allot cheaper to. Question : I want some really comfortable outdoor furniture?
I've been looking at all sorts of home stores at all-weather patio furniture. I have found styles I like, but when I sit on them they just aren't comfortable. Or the style is awful, but seats like a nice indoor leather sofa. Anyone have outdoor furniture that just makes you saw "ahhhh" when you sit down? I use my patio after work to relax and would like an "ahhhh" style couch/love seat and a couple of chairs.

Those sets of plastic wicker with cushions made of weather resistant material are pretty good if you find one of good quality but the most comfortable outdoor seating I have found are those round multi position loungers. You can sleep on them. Can be found at most patio furniture stores, at least in my area. Hope you are as fortunate.

Question : How can I protect indoor wood furniture from outdoor elements?
Me and my friends want to revamp my patio with a few chairs and tables.We were wondering if there was a way we can take indoor wood furniture and condition it so it can be protected from outdoor elements.

In general wooden furniture doesn't do well outside unless it is made from teak, cypress and heart redwood.It is very difficult to completely seal the wood from moisture specially at glue joints and on the bottom of feet. Also the glue used is not water resistant or water proof. If the patio is covered so there is no direct way for water to get to the furniture, you might get it to last for a few years.The single biggest problem is water wicking up into the wood from contact with the ground, concrete, bricks or patio stones. The other problem is glue failure at joints and on any veneers or plywood that may be on or in the furniture.

Question : Wood outdoor furniture care? I have chairs and a potting bench that are looking shabby. Help?
What type of product should I put on them and how? They are both stained to look like redwood and are fading and drying out.

Clean them up with an oxyclean and water solution. Either apply and then power wash or apply and then scrub. After cleaning decide if the furniture needs to be sanded.Then apply an outdoor deck stain. Behr (sold at Home Depot) has a nice redwood stain.

We need a new dining table and chairs for the garden. We can't afford teak but there appears to be a wide selection of products in either acacia wood or eucalyptus wood. I'm just a poor good ole boy, but if you can afford to buy any wood furniture for outside, especially a dining table and chairs, I'd say you could afford the teak.
