Question : Should I still visit my dad?
my dad sent my mom this email and she let me read it:(I'm Jenna)Over the summer, before Jenna arrived, Juli and Jason got along so well, everything was fantastic and we did a lot of activities. The day before Jenna arrived Jason and I were looking for a project/hobby and we went to look at slot cars. We bought a massive digital starter set at a cost of over $600 - Juli loved playing with it too at the store. They were told and agreed to the fact that the purchase meant that we wouldn't have much remaining money for their time with us and some of the other planned activities would have to take a backseat. When Jenna came she upset the whole balance of things with her baby behavior, nonstop hyperactive talking and, yes, she got in everyone's face and was out of control. It was an obvious cry for attention but was completely the wrong way to go about it. It wasn't cute, it wasn't funny.

Question : do any stores carry slot car sets? i want to buy one for my dads b-day & didnt think of it in time for online?

Hobby stores are the best place to find them. Hobbyland in my area has them. Also Hobby Town USA. Check your local phone book under "Hobbies" and give them a call.There are different scales of race setts as well. The "HO" sets are still around, and though you can get more track in a small amount of space, they are not as detailed as the larger scales. 1/24 scale is quite large and more expensive. Only "Carerra" makes home sets of this scale.The middle of the road in scale and expense is 1/32 scale. These cars are nicely detailed and there are several brands that you can buy. Scalextric (the track that I have), SCX and Artin are the most popular. Carrerra track is big enough for 1/24 scale cars but the 1/32s run on this track as well.My home track is 66 feet long and I have people come over to race on it every couple of weeks. You can see it at Yahoo - Groups - GraniteCanyonSpeedway. But you have to join as a member to see all of the pictures. I am in burlington iowa and I am looking for old tyco slot car tracks. I dont care if the track works or not I just need to have track. Part of the hobby for me is to revive the track and cars. The cars I am not that good at fixing but I manage. does anyone have a recommendation for a slot car system. i want to spend less than 150.00. it will be used by a six year old so i would like one that keeps the cars on the track more. the hobby shop sells "carrera" and "AFX racing". Are these any good?

Question : How do I stay into a hobby?
Everytime i get into somthing like trains or stuff, i always move on!! I am into slot cars right now and I really want to stay into this hobby but I know that something is going to catch me off gaurd (like another hobby) then i wont be into slot cars anymore! How can i keep this hobby for years to come?

To keep and build interest in a hobby one should progress deeper into the hobby. WIth the slot cars a person could add special pieces to the track, learn how to build the cars, paint the cars, join a club and recruit friends and relatives.If three or four people meet to discuss and show off their cars and track every week or two, or once a month, there will be a bit of competition to determine the fastest car or best track. The challenges will keep the interest in the hobby.A hobby is a great way to meet people. Look for meetings and trade shows and attend the shows. One may find that the facilitation of ideas and discussions will peak the interest and at the trade shows there is a lot of cool stuff.

Question : What is a good hobby for a bored 14 year old?
Well I have been bored for the past year everyday after school and then seem to think to myself that something will pop up. Well nothing has. Lately I have been searching the internet for hobbies and haven't found one. Over the yeas I have had many hobbies such as RC car racing and slot car racing. As you can see racing is one of the things that makes me \happy. I have discovered a liking for target shooting and archery even though i have very little experience. THe problem is that my parents are anti-gun. Even though my other family does hunt and shoot I can't. I have tried model building and I just can't stick with it. I am at that age where things start to not make sense and my emotions are going crazy but I do think I need something to look forward to doing when I come home other then play video games and watching tv. Back to the racing the only reason I stopped was because all the tracks around me closed. Now a new rc track opened but I don't have the money. I know I sound desperate, its just that Im confused and don't know what to do anymore. It seems like everyone else is fine with playing video games and watching tv but I'm not. Also I can't do anything with my family because my father is working constantly and my mother unfortunately has had 6 back operations and is in pain and stays in bed.

You don't have to give up slot cars just because the tracks around you have closed. Buy your own set. Restore ones that are on EBAY, buy a vintage one for cheap. Or get a starter Ninco/Carrera/other brands set of your own. Race with your friends. Since you like RC, I totally recommend flying RC planes. There are complete ready to fly planes with basic two channel radios for less than $50 to get you started--from there you can work up to 3 and 4 channel models with much more complex control surfaces and stunt capabilities. Then design and build your own planes, the possibilities are endless.My overall advice? Instead of PRETENDING you are flying a plane or racing a car or playing a guitar on a video game, actually GO DO IT. Video games are fine in their place, but they provide no creative outlet and no exercise. Winners do, whiners watch and pretend.

Question : How to up throttle on a Traxxas gas car?
So I received a free used gas car. It was missing a throttle servo so i went out and got one at the local hobby store. But now i don't know how to set it up right. I put it in the slot it goes in. So how would I set it up so the brake and choke are synced right?
