Questions & Answers
Question : Building a new house and turning garage into game room ...need help?
Building a new house and turning the garage into a game room ...need help? The garage will be 20x20. The question is I want to have a standard size pool table, air hockey table and a shuffleboard and a small table in corner for table games ....Flat screen will hang on wall. Oh and dart board on one wall ...Can I fit all this comfortably in this room? I also have the dining room which we will not be using and it's 11x12 that we can open and connect If nessecary. But if I can avoid doing that I would like to. TyvmI wasn't sure where to post this question so I thought I'd try here as somebody might be familiar with having a game room and pool tables ect. Thank you for your time!
Answer:
You came to the right place to have your question answered. It doesn't matter if the table you put in the game room is 7', 8', or 9'. You need a minimum 5' of clear space on each side of the table. I would put a 4 1/2' x 9' table in the room if you're serious about the game. The interest in the other games will fade away but pool will last forever. I wouldn't get anything less than a super 8 table which is a few inches larger in both directions than a standard 4' x 8' table. A 20' x 20' table sounds big and looks grand on paper but as soon as you put a pool table in the center of the room it will get much smaller in a hurry. I hope that helps with your decision making process.

Question : Is it too much combining a housewarming party with a game night?
My boyfriend and I just purchased a home & wanted to do something different other than hosting a traditional housewarming party. I was thinking of instead of having everyone sit around and talk about what we are going to do with the house, etc. to spice it up a little bit and include a game night! We would still register for the housewarming but we would like to entertain them differently. Do you think this is too much? We were planning on having all kinds of games to play to give our guests something to do. For example, shoot pool, play PS3 games, paper games, board games, darts, Wii games, computer/internet games, drinking games, cards, & throw a treasure hunt in there. We would make two party times too, 1pm for family & 6pm for friends since we don't have room for 50 people in our house at one time. We're thinking of doing finger sandwiches with some cold pasta dishes for the family party (chips, pretzels, etc. for all day) & do pizza with some TGIFridays appetizers for the 6pm party. It would be a BYOB party for anyone that wants to drink!!! What do you think? When the house is all said and done ~ we would also like to have a movie night, where 4 rooms would be hosting a different kind of movie (action/drama, horror, comedy, romantic). But that's not until maybe a year from the first party!!!
Answer:
I think it's a good idea, I'm not one for registering for gifts though, you might want to rethink that, especially if it's BYOB. I love the idea of having fun things for your guests to do, especially if it's something that they are supposed to bring a gift to. I just don't like the sound of registering for gifts, and telling your friends to bring their own alchohol. I would word it as, we are having a game night so that you can come see our new house, and if someone brings a gift good, if not, that's fine too. You could say that a gift isn't required, but registering for a gift kind of implies they have to bring one. I would either nix registering, or nix the BYOB. Also, having 2 different parties on the same day is going to be very stressful, you might want to think about doing a party one weekend, and another one the next. You might have guests from the first party not want to leave, and if they have been drinking, they will be obnoxious to your just arriving sober guests. Also, do you really want to get food together for the first party, start cleaning, then set out for the next party? And if you have those guests that don't leave after the first party, you are going to be trying to entertain them & getting ready for the 2nd party at the same time. Kinda a lot for 1 day.

Question : I need a low budget make-over for my game room any ideas?
I am on a very low budget but would really like to make over my garage game room. Any budget friendly ideas? When we first painted it we used Hawaiian themed decor left over from our daughter's luau party but we are tired of it. We need to cover the walls somehow. We have a pool table and a super nice electric dart board along with an extra fridge and tv/stereo equipment in there too. Please give me your best ideas! Thanks in advance for your help! Have a great day!
Answer:
A black and white color scheme with pops of red is always attractive and it would be a nice change from the ultra colorful Hawaiian theme. You could paint the walls white but make it different by painting it in 8 inch wide vertical stripes of semi-gloss white alternating with flat white. Use the blue painter's tape and a level to be sure the lines are straight. Then you could use one zebra pattern flat sheet to sew short curtains for the windows or have a friend make them if you don't sew. It's really easy. You could paint the floor with a glossy black or red floor paint and use red or black accents like the round moon chairs they have on sale right now for about $20-$30. And you could use any leftover zebra fabric to make toss pillows for the chairs. If you have wood folding TV tables, you could paint them a glossy red and use them next to the chairs for drinks, etc.Good luck and have fun!! : )

Question : I'm i being good with my Bunny?
i have a little baby bunny and she seems extremely friendly and has alot of personality already! Here are the things im worried about, I want her to be treated how we treat humans, with respect and all that! She gets the run of her room, the room she is in her cage anyway, when we are home but not when we are out! She is learning a little bit of pooping in the right place but is still a little bad at pooping on the floor! Not a problem just now!Every time she sniffs my feet i know shes sniffing to see if it is threatening but i usually nudge her wee nose to say hey thats my foot dont bite! Is this bad of me to do or should i let her sniff, she might now think my foot is the enemy???Also she digs, should i let her dig on the laminte flooring, it probably helps wear her claws down which of course in rabbits will get stronger!I always let her sniff my hand before petting her or picking her up, I think that is the right thing to do! should she be allowed out to play in this room and free roam all the time or will whe end up defending it! It is my Games room and darts room, so if i come in and sit with friends will she be like oi get out my room or ill go mental and start thumping etc?Serious answers, these questions are real legimate sensible questionsNot got any time for you idiots who post stuff like You are weird!just to clarify i mean when my friends come over into the room she will be in her cage of course, wudnt play darts with her out! But sometimes rabbits get territotorial so i wanst sure if its wise to let her out in the room all day!!
Answer:
She is likely interpreting your foot nudges as an acknowledgment from you. This is bunny language to acknowledge or get ones attention. You may want to give her something more appropriate to dig in like a straw mat. Tea towels make great bunny dig toys too. It can be quite amusing to watch them with one. Many will dig them so they go flying out through the hind legs then they fetch them and straighten them out and start all over again. Cardboard boxes are great for chewing, digging in and napping in. So are paper grocery sacks. I do think it a good idea to cage her when you are not home to supervise at least until you can determine if she is one that can be trusted not to get into harmful or destructive mischief. As far as the dropping go this is typical and does get better after spaying but you need to wait until 5-6 months. After many will develop perfect or near perfect litter box manners some will continue to leave their happy trails of coco puffs but at least get their pees in the box. As far as the room goes rabbits are very intelligent and keenly aware of territory. Mine, yours and space we share but most will at least test boundaries. She is more likely to enjoy the extra attention your friends bring. Do be sure you are lifting properly to prevent injury. As babes they tend to have a freeze reaction but they lose this as they mature and then are likely to start kicking if you don't lift them with their hind legs and butts fully supported. This can be dangerous as there is a possibility of her back getting broken.
