Questions & Answers
Question : English Language learning games for Foreign students ?
Has anybody got any ideas for a game to play with German students learning English ?
Answer:
Depends on the topic. Simon Says is great for practicing body parts as the above post mentions.I have the kids make clocks from paper plates when I teach time. It is not really a game, but a way for the kids to all respond at once when I say a time in the target language.Flyswatter game; put a lot of vocabulary words on the board. Divide the class into 2 teams. One person from each team goes up and the first person to hit the word gets a point.Checkers; make your own board and put pictures of your words on the squares. In order to move there the kids have to say the correct vocabulary word. Use bingo chips for pieces (less expensive).Basketball; buy a cheap hoop and ball at the dollar store. Have 5 kids at a time go to the board. Give them a question. The first to answer gets a point and has the chance to make a basket for an extra point.Battleship; make a grid. I use this mostly for conjugating. I put verbs along one side and the pronouns along the other. For example You and then it lines up with to be. They to say "you are" and then the partner tells them if they hit a ship or missed. It is also good for basic numbers. You can also give them movie titles in English and have them guess which ones they are based on what they know from the German titles. This is always a fun activity.Have them find a picture from a magazine and then write sentences to describe the person. You can also use this to describe their clothing.

I play a ps3 and a wii. I would hope that this would help me in language learning. Some games have and option to change the language (MGS4), but others are dubbed for the country that they are sold in (biochock). If Gamestop is international do you think i could order the game via mail? What other company could help me?
Answer:

I love the question crystal. I'm also an ESL teacher. We created a games database for just this quandary. You can organize the games by age-level. It's all free and please sign-up for free and add a few games. We have about 150 games right now, but want more games.http://www.taiwanenglish.com/games.php

My zynga games toolbar is in a foreign language. How do I get my english version back?
Answer:
Currently there is no way to change it back. This has happened to a lot of people, that their toolbars have suddenly changed to Russian. The recommendation is to just uninstall the toolbar. You can read this for advice... http://www.fvnation.com/?p=3546

Question : Will my video games all be in a foreign language?
I bought fifa 09 (I know its the old version) and it has some German words off to the side of the game box (everything else is english). I am wondering does this mean the game would be German? If so will I have an option to change the language to english?I also bought Tom Clancy Vegas 2 and underneath the game title on the box it says it in japanese. Does this mean the game will be in japanese? If so, will I have an option to change it to english? These games are all for PS3.
Answer:
Almost all games with multiple languages on the cover give you the option of which language you prefer before it enters the home screen. Once your preferred language is chosen, it can usually be changed from the options/settings menu. PS3 is an international gaming system which is most likely the reason they have begun to put subtitles in different languages on the covers of the games. It happened with my version of motorstorm when I purchased it as well.

Question : Is there a programme that translate foreign language games into english?
Hi i wanna play a game called elsword badly however the only english version out is ip blocked to everywhere but america and canada so my only option is the korean version or german version. I was wodnering if there is a programme that can translate in game languages to english?
Answer:
No. Translation of a game is a long, arduous process that can take a development studio many months to complete and must be done by real people. You can't just expect a program to do it without it turning the dialogue into illegible gibberish. Sorry.
