Questions & Answers
Question : What is the fastest way to finish a Checkers game?
I'm not looking for strategies or anything, but literally the fastest way that a game of checkers could be finished.

Answer:
Resign. The game's over in under a second, depending on how quickly you can say "you win."

Question : How do you play checkers on a regular board.?
I have no idea how to play checkers and want to play. I tried google searching it but no luck. If you can help please give me an answer by march 25, 2008.

Answer:
1. Checkers is played by two players. Each player begins the game with 12 colored discs. (Typically, one set of pieces is black and the other red.) 2. The board consists of 64 squares, alternating between 32 dark and 32 light squares. It is positioned so that each player has a light square on the right side corner closest to him or her. 3. Each player places his or her pieces on the 12 dark squares closest to him or her. 4. Black moves first. Players then alternate moves. 5. Moves are allowed only on the dark squares, so pieces always move diagonally. Single pieces are always limited to forward moves (toward the opponent). 6. A piece making a non-capturing move (not involving a jump) may move only one square. 7. A piece making a capturing move (a jump) leaps over one of the opponent's pieces, landing in a straight diagonal line on the other side. Only one piece may be captured in a single jump; however, multiple jumps are allowed on a single turn. 8. When a piece is captured, it is removed from the board. 9. If a player is able to make a capture, there is no option -- the jump must be made. If more than one capture is available, the player is free to choose whichever he or she prefers. 10. When a piece reaches the furthest row from the player who controls that piece, it is crowned and becomes a king. One of the pieces which had been captured is placed on top of the king so that it is twice as high as a single pieces. 11. Kings are limited to moving diagonally, but may move both forward and backward. (Remember that single pieces, i.e. non-kings, are always limited to forward moves.) 12. Kings may combine jumps in several directions -- forward and backward -- on the same turn. Single pieces may shift direction diagonally during a multiple capture turn, but must always jump forward (toward the opponent). 13. A player wins the game when the opponent cannot make a move. In most cases, this is because all of the opponent's pieces have been captured, but it could also be because all of his pieces are blocked in.

Question : How many spaces can quinn go in checkers?
Once you get to the quinn in checkers, you can move in all directions diagnally, but can you move just one space or can you move more then just one? Can you go from one end of the board all the way to the other?

Answer:
If you are referring to the "queen", it can move as far as you want in any one direction.

Question : An app for the game checkers that can be downloaded on an iPhone and Palm Pre?
I would like to play checkers with a friend over our phones, but he has a Palm Pre and I have an iPhone. Is there an app that we can both download that would allow us to play checkers against each other?

Answer:
There is no such app available... Sorry about that....Good luck!

Question : What is the judgement that air force men drink tea and play checkers?
I've heard this a lot on Y!A. I live in the UK and not aware why people think the US air force likes drinking tea and playing checkers.NOTE: i know they probably don't but i just wanna know where it came from

Answer:
FIrst I tried to join the Marines, passed all but the last test, my head would not fit in the jar.Looked at the navy but I am straight. Then the Air Force. Sorry but we bust the bubble but while the officers are out fighting the enlisted do sit back and drink cold ice tea (Sweet of course). I do take offense though we do not play checks, the army does, we play chess. It is just ball busting. The Air Force is the smartest enlisted branch, We send our officers out to fight.

Question : Where can I find a downloadable chess and or checkers game?
I'm not talking about every random chess or checkers game you can find, I want simple plain red and black circles on black and white squares or little 2 dimensional pawns, rooks, etc... does anyone know where to find such things?

Answer:
shareware.com

Question : Why is my new laptop flashing green checkers and pink checkers across the screen?
My laptop has windows 7. It flashes with a green checker pattern behind the cursor sometimes and also pink checkers across the whole screen. It also shuts down after the pink checkers sometimes. Its only a week old and the only thing I have downloaded is i tunes store. No files, or other programs. This started before the i tunes anyway? Any ideas on why?

Answer:
1. It is a hardware error, probably with your video card, which it could be damaged or malfunctioning, or it's not plugged in tight and has fallen loose inside your laptop.2. It could be a virus from a website, although unlikely. You can try restoring your computer to a restore point if you have one, or repair/reinstall Windows 7 with the OS Disc that should come with the laptop. If restoring/repairing does not work, or you don't want to, your best bet is to either:1. Take to a computer repair store.2. Contact your computer's manufacturer for support and repair

Question : I have a game table that is missing the checkers, etc. How do I get replacements?
It has drawers and I got it at a furniture company. Someone threw the pieces out for checkers, backgammon, chinese checkers, tic tac toe.

Answer:
Most dollar stores have those games, if you don't mind having the cheaper plastic replacement pieces.

Question : How can I get really good at checkers?
Im not that good at playing checkers.I only beat someone about 5 times in my whole entire life.I know love checker because even though I lose all the time I always still play it but I want to get better...How do I do it?I dont know how to trick someone into letting me jump them and stuff like that...People have stragedies.

Answer:
Step 1:Go to your local library and check out several books on checkers. There are books for the beginner and the advanced player that offer tips, strategies and techniques that can enable you to improve your game. Step 2:Join a club. The way to win at checkers is through practice and clubs are a great way to get a lot of matches under your belt. If your club plays other clubs, that is so much the better, since you will expand your circle of checkers compatriots and learn new moves and techniques. Step 3:Compete against superior players. Unlike some games where you will only frustrate yourself by being outmatched, playing a better player in checkers only helps you to enhance your own game as you pick up useful tools. Step 4:Practice with a computer game or on the Internet if you run out of partners. You can really sharpen your skills by engaging in play with virtual players. Computers usually think several moves ahead and you can improve your concentration with such a formidable opponent. Step 5:Take your time when playing unless you are in a timed game. Don't take easy captures (taking your opponent's piece) and risk a big loss later on in the game. The way to win at checkers is to try to visualize the board after your current move. Step 6:Visit the American Checker Federation's website to get information on tournaments, tips and techniques and where you can find chapters in your area

Question : Where can I purchase an authentic set of Chinese Checkers in Vancouver?
Please help!! I have been looking everywhere trying to find a place that sells an authentic (or even anything close to it) set of Tiao Qi (Chinese Checkers) in Vancouver? Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. There is nothing available online other than Western knock-off versions with marbles.

Answer:
the reason you're probably only finding western knock-off versions is because it's a game that was invented in the west 100 years ago. So the knock-off versions are the authentic versions.
