Questions & Answers
Question : My cover letter needs help but I have no clue what?
To Whom It May Concern:I suspect you’ll find many candidates with a background such as mine but you will only find a few with a character like mineand it’s one I’d like to put to work on your behalf. As you’ll see on the enclosed resume, the depth of my experience in Education offers you the opportunity to hire a real experienced person who needs little or no training and who is comfortable in learning a new trade. Moreover, having worked in a variety of education companies, I have the ability to work with a wide range of children and people. The ability to reach and connect to individuals at their own personal level is a talent I take pride in. I transport a positive attitude, a colorful creativity. I am ready to amp up the atmosphere and bring in a new vibe. A personal interview would allow me to demonstrate my talents. I look forward to hearing from you so that we can schedule a meeting. Please contacted me at 55555555 or Email@yahoo.com

Answer:
I gotta be honest, the first sentence makes me want to run far, far away. I'm sure you have a great character but why don't you just let it come through in what you say. Start by talking about what the company does so that they know you know what the job is that you are applying for. Then talk about what skills you have that would fit what they need. Finally, talk about how positive your prior work experiences have been and why (this is where your character will show through). End by saying how much you'd love to be a part of their organization. Nobody is looking for you to amp up anything.

Question : Is this a good way to tell you are an atheist?
I found this on the Rapture-Ready forum. Do you agree with it? http://rr-bb.com/showthread.php?78643-Atheism-amp-Agnosticism&p=1060867#post1060867# You blame God for the starvation, sickness, pain and suffering in the world...when, indeed, it is MAN's greed, politics, selfishness and apathy that not only causes, but also ignores the sick and the starving masses. We aren't our brothers' keepers....but we should be.# You claim Creationists don't research on evolution websites before debating against it. Luckily you caught this useful weapon against Christians at the evolution site you learned all about creation doctrine from.# You refuse to use the word "excruciating" because of its origins in describing the agonies of crucifixion. (ex crucis - "from the cross")# You adhere to a false and realised version of history gained from watching Hollywood movies such as Inherit the Wind so that you can (for example) conclude: "the controversy over creation and evolution was settled way back in 1925, when Clarence Darrow eviscerated William Jennings Bryan in a country courtroom in Dayton, Tennessee."# You're convinced that people only believe in God because they're afraid of going to hell...despite the fact that if there is no God, then there's probably no hell either.# You deface money by scribbling God off of dollar bills.# You claim that there is no way a book thousands of years old can be relevant today, but refuse to do the necessary homework to see how it could apply in modern situations, preferring instead to argue that God should have provided an updated version.# You have never pondered the question: why did a really smart guy like Bertrand Russell write such a pathetically limp, uninformed and adolescent critique of Christianity in "Why I Am Not A Christian"?# You believe any person who writes a book critical of Christianity is doing it for "education" purposes. Conversely, you believe that any person who writes a book defending Christianity is "just in it to make money."

Answer:
No.Here's a better way:"Do you believe in any of the thousands of claimed magical gods?""No.""Then you're an atheist."Much more honest and reliable than that drivel.Peace.

Question : Updating Amperage service on old home?
I just bought a second home for a hobby/project. The home has a 70 Amp service and I am wanting to upgrade to at least a 100 Amps. This is probably all the home will ever need because everything appliance wise, is gas powered.I just had the home inspected and this is what the inspection notes said about the homes wiring:"From what I could identify, the electrical wiring is a combination of 2 and newer 3 wire shielded cable. There are some sections of newer 3 wire romex installed in various areas as part of some updating"Without knowing the actual gauge of the wire, do you think this type of wiring could handle a 100 Amp service?I am en engineer by trade and education so I learn quickly, but I am new to residential wiring. I would like to opinion of an industry professional (Electrician, Electrical Contractor). Thanks everyone.

Answer:
Hire a qualified, licensed professional electrician to do the service upgrade. Install at least a 200 amp service. When you get into the interior wiring, install all new wire throughout as you get to it. Use 12-2 wg for most of the wiring. Some like the fire alarm can be a 14-2 circuit and dedicated single circuits like a microwave can also be on a 15 amp circuit. The new NEC codes will require about 8 circuits in the kitchen, plus the lights and the receptacles in the remainder of the home. A hobby project is one thing but wiring a home that will be occupied is a serious undertaking. If you open the walls and have reasonable access to the floors and ceiling, the project could probably be done by a qualified pro cheaper than you can buy the material. Since you are new to residential electrical work listen about the advice. Get a pro to do this. Faster, easier and done right the first time. Also possibly cheaper, it will be if you include your time. I know an electrical foreman who built his own home and the wiring done by the local electrical contractor cheaper than he could buy the material at wholesale. Shop arouind.

Question : Soo...I like this guy....?
My Dad teaches a religious education class at my school. One year, I came to help him out. Everyone was my age, so it was fun meeting new friends. There were guys there too, but I was too young to really notice any of them, although I did learn their names and memorized their faces. A few years later, in present time, I was asked to play the guitar in a band for a children's camp, and i gladly accepted. Accompanying me, as another guitarist, was a guy from my class named Evan. Every day, Evan would show up with his fancy guitar and humongous amp. Helping him out was his cousin, Brennan. I recognized his face from my dad's religion class that one year, and grew to like him. We didn't talk at all that week, but I was secretly admiring him anyways. All throughout the week he was constantly looking at me... After the camp I texted Evan and asked for Brennan's #, finding out sadly that he didn't have one. He didn't have an email address either. Evan said, though, that Brennan was getting a phone in a week and a half, but I don't really trust him (previous incident). A week later, my friend saw Brennan at an event (she knows I like him) and said hi, and said that I said hi. He said, "Oh, ya, isn't she the one from the band?" She answered yes, and he said "cool." So he knows who I am. What do I do now? BTW, it's be very rare for us to see each other in person.I really like him, and any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Answer:
Try and get to know the guy better. Arrange a few one on one hang outs and talk more. You have to know what kind of person he is before you can truly like him. Then you two can see if anything will work between the two of you.Help?http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Am6EFvIdfj79YvA5B4QFJkzsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=200907 28072253AAd8aWB

Question : Should I learn to play, piano or guitar?
I have an acoustic piano, which I do play already (not very well though) and I have an electric guitar with an amp, both of which are fully functional. I have a very wide music appreciation, I love it all, from rock, to classical, (though I hate hip hop and rap because it's not even original music, they just sample riffs from real music.) My question is which one should I spend money for lessons on? I realize that many of you will say to learn both, but please don't. I will eventually, but right now I can only afford lessons for one instrument (not that I would have the time to do two anyway.) Also, some people say that the piano is the basis of further music education, and therefore you should learn the piano. Well, I'm not interested in making a career out of music, I just want to play popular songs or compositions and learn some improvisation skills. Plus, almost all rock guitarists only play guitar, never played piano, so I don't buy into people saying you need to start with the piano. With all of this said, which one should I learn? Basically I'm asking which one you like better.I appreciate all answers I've received thus far, but I feel that I need to clarify something. It was misleading for me to say that all I wanted to do was to play popular songs. I want to play for more reasons than that, I just feel like it's my goal to be able to play these musical pieces and songs that I like, but I really just love to play music of all kinds. Another thing to add that I forgot. I don't care about difficult. I care about the final results, not how easy it is to learn. With hard work comes great reward, so I don't want to play one over the other because it is easier to learn.

Answer:
The piano.First it is easier to play songs by ear there than on the guitar. With the piano the notes are already there and you can go from one to the next very easily. So it makes finding chords and such easier. Now as for what people say, you dont "need" to start off with the piano but it helps understand music better so I can see what they're trying to say. I took one semester of lessons of guitar first, then the next year of piano and now after playing the piano or keyboard really, I can understand the basic guitar chords better. Now if you are going to take actual lessons then I guess I'd say go with the guitar. With a piano or keyboard you can teach yourself a lot with enough practice. If you get lessons to play an instrument, I think you'll probably get more out of getting lessons for guitar than piano.

If you are not, and have a degree in engineering, then you might know how to read. Go buy a book on basic home wireing.Yes, I do have an engineering degree and have been working as an engineer for years. You might not understand that actual engineers are normally glorified number crunchers, as with me. Pardon me for wanting to get some advice from some experienced people have who have handled these kind of upgrades. I can see you have been "stringing wire" for quite sometime, in all that time you forgot how to spell and use grammar correctly. Oh wait, you probably never learned.Yes, I do have an engineering degree and have been working as an engineer for years. Answer:
I pretty much agree with Stepan and Peter.A couple of points that I don't think are fully addressed. You are asking abot upgrading the service to the house. The wiring throughout t the house is a different subject. To upgrade to the 100 Amp two main things. First is the feed to the house. I don't have the tables here and won't advise based on memory. Next is the service panel or breaker box. Your existing panel may be rated for 100Amp and only need the main breaker replaced. If in doubt ( missing label ) replace. The wires through the house are dependent on the load not the toatl house service. There is sometimes a misunderstanding caused by terminology. I have heard Romex with two conductors and a ground refered to as two conductor/ground and just two conductor. Not sure what is meant in the report by shielded. Flexible conduit maybe? But taking the descriptions in context it sounds like older two discrete conductor wire that should be in conductive conduit which should be grounded. The Romex is almost certainly the two conductor with ground. But this is sometimes called three wire. I would make sure that all of your internal wiring is three wire, two conductors and a ground. If individual wires and not Romex it needs to be in conduit. Wire gauge depends on the capacity required for the circuit. 14 Ga. is min. for any home wiring.BTW, Romex is a brand name but is used as a generic term like Kleenex. Since it was mentioned, any new 220V wiring must be four wires. Two hot, one neutral and a ground. Existing does not have to be upgraded unless the service is moved. That is why we have so many questions on here about three prong dyer outlets. Before 1996 three wire was acceptable.
