Questions & Answers
Question : Are new and high tech electronics the reason kids are neglecting to engage in outdoor activities?
When i was an adolescent - a new bicycle was the number one Christmas present for boys my age. And It wasn't only used for means of transportation, it was for fun, because we loved to race up and down the street. We loved being outside playing all types of games, mama had to threaten us with a butt whipping just to get us to come in and eat dinner. Nowadays it's the vice versa. Young boys are getting sissified. All they wanna do is stay in the house and play PS3 or play on the laptop. I bet very few kids got a new bike this Christmas.

Question : What do you do when your kids "really wants" something?
I'm horrified to hear in the electronics section how these kids say "I already have a DSLR camera that costs $800, but I really want the newer model that costs $2000. How can I convince my parents to get it for me?"This seems to be a disgusting mindset that somehow got into the youth today (and some of the adults too). I'm wondering, as a parent, what do you do when your kids ask you to buy them something that they don't need just because they want it?
Answer:
Absolutely not. My child would have been lucky to receive A camera. I would never pay £800 for any camera. Unless they where doing a camera course and needed it for there studies. But anything else after that would be there own responsibility. Especially if they just "wanted" it. If it was to break I would probably hit the roof.

Question : help with electronics for kids!!!?
my son is almost 11 and want an i pod or a mp3 player. i dont know which is the best to get him. i want something that is good but dont want to pay an arm and a leg for it. can some one please help me figure out which is best for his age. not to sound dumb but how do you get the song on either one of them. do you get free downloads or do you have to buy them or what.
Answer:
I have an iPod, which is pretty good, but it's a BIG hassle to set it up with iTunes and everything. I spent three hours figuring out how to download and use iTunes. The "Help" area wasn't helpful at all. After you get that part done, the rest of it is very easy. Yes, you have to pay for music. The songs are ninety-nine cents each. You can redeem gift cards for money, and it keeps track of how much you spent. If you don't have a gift card, you'll have to pay for the songs with a credit card. I think that's it.

Question : Do you have to go to the electronics checkout?
I know this sounds naive, but the people at the electronics checkout look down on kids most often and always ask me, "Where's your parents, kid?"I want to buy my mom a gift at Target, and it's in the electronics section. It's the Blu-Ray remote. I don't want to ask for her help from her because that would give it away. So I'm just asking, must you check an electronic item out at the electronic checkouts?
Answer:
well I work at walmart in the electronics section and the only items we have to make sure you check out there are tvs, games, and items that are locked up.

Question : How do you feel about electronics as Christmas presents for kids?
Laptops, digital cameras, Ipod (high value), cell phones, etc..Do you agree with giving children these things or no? What's the ideal age to give these kinds of presents? What conditions if any would you attach to these gifts? If you give your child an expensive gift, do they get anything else?Just go with whatver age your kids are
Answer:
My parents raised me to pay for half of the expensive things I wanted. That taught me the value of money, and I was less likely to ask for something that I would disregard a week later out of boredom.I don't believe in extravagant Christmas presents. Some kids are too materialistic at Christmas. I don't see the reason to spend tons of money to celebrate Christ's birth. That IS, after all, what Christmas is about.

Question : Do any moms think that too much electronics are making our kids fat today?
This is simply for a research project. I need to know how moms feel about the obesity epidemicI see all thesee articles on the obesity epidemic and I have been trying to fiigure how moms feel about it. Please let me know. Is it the fast food that is making all our kids fat? Or is it sitting infront of the playstation and not playing outside? Let me know what your opinion is!
Answer:
Kids that are addicted to computers, video games, TV, etc are more likely to be obese than kids who are not. Parents need to have more control. Lock up the games so they can only be played for a short amount of time. Tell the child if they do not get the recommended 1 hour of physical activity per day that they forfit their game playing that day. Keep healthy snacks in the cupboards instead of chips, sugared soda, etc. Low-sugar, or diet juices, bottles of water (Flavored water with no sugar), carrots with low-fat dip, etc. My son is 3 and has yet to play a video game or be allowed on the computer, yet his cousin that is just a few months older is WAY heavier because he is allowed to play video games and eat whatever junk he wants.Fast food is not what is making people fat. I actually work for Mc Donalds (For 1 1/2 years) and have actually LOST 10 pounds because I don't just sit on my butt. My son eats it occasionally and it not fat at all.

Question : How do you feel about video games or electronics for kids under the age of 6?
My daughter will be 5 in March and she doesn't really hold an interest in video games or computer games or stuff like that so it never occurred to me to buy it for her...do your kids play that kind of stuff? What about like hand held video games like Nintendo DS? Would you buy things like this for your young kids? iTouch? Just curious.beacuse i don't want them lol maybe i didn't make that clear....Her dad wants to get her a DS and and iTouch, thats why I ask what everyone's thoughts are! Thanks for the responses!
Answer:
Gosh if she's not interested then leave it be. Video games of all kinds are kind of like opening Pandora's box. I don't buy the video games, my ex does. I feel like he's teaching him to be stupid.
