Questions & Answers
Question : Toddlers and baby dolls?
My little boy loves to play with his real size newborn baby doll. and that is fine with us.That he wants to feed it and take it to bed, is fine as well.I don't want it in the bath because the body is cotton and will therefore be soaking wet... :)Recently it's increasing frequency and location. He starts calling "baby" out of the blue. And when we go out he insists on taking it... but i don't want to carry it in the street so far i've always managed to get him to leave it at home, but now he wants it all the time everywhere we go, with whatever he's doing.I was wondering why? Does anyone know why little kids do this? What's going on in their little mind?it's almost like kids who have a little blanket or something. that's for comfort, right?i thought a doll would be for playing... is he lonely or something?anyway, it's just a thought, anyone care to share? ThanksI was looking for opinions and found a different question from 2years ago "How Do You Feel About Toddler Boys Playing With Dolls???"I found this question as well "Do you let your toddler boy play with dolls?"but it's not really the playing i was wondering about, it's the having the baby with him at all times that bugs me :)It was interesting to read about the "transitional object"i suspected so, but didn't think it applied to huge dolls, but why not, eh? and to the fact that he's with me all the time and he doesn't even go to nursery or anything :)I was just worried that maybe he was lonely or something and was making himself a little friend, in that case i should try to do something to solve this. But it seems everyone is going thro this :)

Answer:
Your son's doll is his "transitional object".http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transitional_objectMy daughter's doll "Lily" came everywhere with us! Until my Mum suggested a smaller doll only for going out & Lily could stay at home. It worked & everybody survived. A toy just for going out with may help but don't force it as his doll is very important to him.

Question : My Twinn Toddler Doll?
I am trying to find "Boy" shoes for My Twinn Doll Toddler, and not having any luck.Anybody know if these dolls even are made to wear shoes?Yes, I've tried the Ebay and the My Twinn website. My Twinn was not helpful and did not answer my Q's correctly and just told me to keeping looking daily.

Answer:
ebaycraigslistnexttagamazonthey all have things I never even knew about.

Question : Toddler Barbie dolls?
Do they exist any more, I can't find them (I'm looking online). My daughter has a huge collection of barbies but they have to pretend that bigger dolls are their babies!

Answer:
They sell them at toys r us, you just have to go to the store and into the barbie section, I see them all the time, some come with high chairs or wagons or dogs, they're a lot smaller than the bigger barbies, I don't know if they're called toddler barbies though. But they do sell them at toys r us, that's the only place I've seen them. Hope this helps.

Question : Amazing Amanda and little mommy toddler dolls?
Anyone here have either onefor their kids? Worth the money?

Answer:
No, but as I recall similar dolls in the past were fast lived,.. and they seem to keep needing to make new dolls for people to be return custemers (I didn't spell that correctly, did I?). Remember the first doll of the Amazing was Amazing Alley. If your child is school age though, it may be a requirement for their social circle (people don't remember little details in their childhood) and they may gain more faith in you and show friends they appreciate it (even though it may not be to your face). What makes these gain more focus is when interest starts to leave, you get a larger and older looking doll or a younger and smaller looking doll and say they are related and need to take care of each other. That expands attention and entertainment spent on the dolls by up to 20 times (they might end up keeping them as adults).

Question : Do you let your toddler boy play with dolls?
My 2 year old has been playing with the dolls that we purchased for his sister. He pretends that he is breastfeeding them, changing their diaper, burbing them, putting them to sleep. I think it's INCREDIBLY adorable and very sweet. Just wondering if this is ok, though? Would it be ok to encourage it?Some of these were great answers, and just what I was looking for. I can't decide who's is the best, so I'm going to put it to the vote! Thanks everyone!

Answer:
Boys need to learn to be daddies same as girls pretend to be mommies. My son is that age and he puts on his sisters plastic shoes, puts the baby in the stroller and pushes it around the house!! He feeds the baby( he has been known to use a football as a bottle), wraps the baby in blankets and the next minute is ramming his trucks together to make them crash!! His play is perfectly normal. I wouldn't make a big deal out of it, but I might tell him daddies can't breastfeed, they feed with a bottle, but let him continue to pretend to breastfeed if he wants. It won't hurt him, I just like to give me kids the facts, what they do after that is up to them at this age!!

Question : Safe dolls with bottle for a 26 month old toddler?
Any parents out there know of a safe, non-recalled, inexpensive plush doll i can buy for my 26 month old toddler. & a fake bottle too.are those fake bottles safe with those liquid inside. Is it safe when she decides to put it in her mouth?

Answer:
My daughter is 10 months...and loves baby dolls. Her eyes get really big when we go down the doll isle. I know they say good for 2 or 3 year olds....but they don't really make many for her age that she likes. So I just buy those ones anyway. She has one from Walmart that came with a plastic bottle in the shape of a bear......no liquid inside. It seemed pretty safe to me. It came with a pacifier too. It was all bundled in a cute little tote bag. She loves it.

Question : Is it a duty of a mother to play with dolls with her toddler girl?
Is it a duty of a mother to play with dolls with her toddler girl?

Answer:
I'm afraid so. If you decide to have children, you have a responsibility to entertain them. If the little girl wants to play with dolls, the mother has to grit her teeth and pretend she's having a great time. You can't really expect a toddler to choose an activity that the mother finds fascinating, after all.

Question : Where can I find custom-made baby boy dolls?
I am ordering my daughter a My Twinn customized doll, and since my 2 year-old son always wants everything she has, I'd like to get him one as well. My Twinn has discontinued their toddler dolls and I can't afford an actual customized doll for him. Does anyone know of any doll companies that can either customize dolls or have a wide variety of doll types (skin, eyes, hair, etc.), FOR BOYS? (I'm looking for one with golden brown hair, green/hazel eyes and fair skin, but I do NOT want to get him a Cabbage Patch one or something from Walmart.) Any info would be much appreciated :)

Question : Does your toddler name all his/her dolls or stuffed animals the same thing?
Every time we ask our daughter what her baby's name is (and she has at least 5), she tells us her dad's name. She understands the question. She just names them all that. lol. Does your child do that? How old is s/he?

Answer:
Until around two all of my son's stuffed animals (and a few of his other toys) were called "monkey." Not sure how old your child is, but when I talked to a few of my friends with children about they had had similar experiences. I think its pretty normal until around two.
