Questions & Answers
Question : What is short gear ratio n how to eliminate gears in your car?
Hello everyone. Can anyone explain to me what short gear ratio is? And I would like to know if there is a way to eliminate the first gear in our car. Currently the gear is 1-N-2-3-4-5. So I would like to eliminate the 1st gear so that it’ll be N-1-2-3-4 @ N-2-3-4-5. We’re using Honda CBR 600 F4i.

Answer:
short gear ratio just means a very low gear and you will pay hundreds if not thousands for a custom tranny, not really worth it. You dont have to start in first gear remember... I can start from a dead stop in 3rd gear in my bike, depending on how much torque your bike has, and it sounds like your question is about a bike not a car.

Question : What type of gear oil should i use in a Snapper self propelled push mower?
I have a self propelled Snapper push mower that i found in the garbage with a Ninja mulching blade. The mower runs okay, but the transmission is tired. I have a used transmission ready to install on it, but i want to replace the gear oil in it first. What type of gear oil should i use?

Answer:
You can use 90wt oil for the transmission.

Question : What gear do I need to start salmon fishing in fresh water? Im going for the spinning method I think?
Fresh water fishing in Ireland. What do I need to buy so I have the correct gear? Is ther a package out there for beginners? Could you direct me to any sites to read up on this? Could you give me advice from your own experience? Thanks a million.

Answer:
Hello there. I live in the "Great Lakes" area of the US. I am an avid fisherman of trout and salmon. I think the first thing to consider is to match the prey of the salmon you're targeting. Generally, spoons, spinners, and crank baits are what we use here. As far as equipment, I'd start with a medium action rod and a equivalent reel that has a good drag. These fish are pure muscle, and if your drag is not set properly, they will snap you off frequently.Best of luck in your fishing.TriggerfingerVisit my website at www.teamtriggerfinger1.webs.com

Question : What is the best gear to start in on snow, with an automatic tranny?
I have read that it is better to start off in a higher gear to decrease torque and the wheels will not tend to spin as much. But the same documents suggest dropping to a lower drive like D1 or D2 on an automatic ???? what difference does it make on an Automatic? It will always start in the lowest gear and work its way up?? Seems to me there is no way to force it to start in a higher gear?

Answer:
The only thing D1 and D2 do is limit what gear your car will reach. You still start in first gear. Now, if you have a vehicle with an automatic and the 'sports shifter' kind of stuff you can start of in 2nd and it does help.We do that in our 06 beetle.

Question : What guitar gear should a beginner buy first?
Hey, I currently have a guitar (a fender squire strat ) and a 38 watt amp. I have no knowledge of gear and i am just a beginner. I would like to learn about gear/different types of gear. I would appreciate any advice on what gear i should buy first and perhaps what gear i should build up to. Thanks!

Answer:
Hello there,Are you certain your amp is a 38 watt amp. That sounds rather unusual for the power rating. I think the small Fender and Squier 15 watt amps say something about 38 watts. Those are 15 watt amps. If that is what you have, a better amp would be the first upgrade. Moving up to a 1x12 combo would improve your sound. The 12 inch speaker will have a richer fuller tone.If you do have one of the small Fender or Squier practice amps, those have no built in effects. The first effects pedal you should get is a distortion pedal. A good basic distortion pedal is the Boss DS-1.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKFuwErM2ZA&feature=relatedLater,

Question : What is the best gear to use over medium length distances?
In cycling, to get more speed up is it easier to spin faster in a medium gear or push harder in a low gear. How do you know when you are at your optimum gear.

Answer:
You want to pedal at a high cadence 70-90 rpm's with a lite pressure on the pedals. That will allow your body to use fat as a fuel and wont tire your legs. Pedaling slow and mashing on the pedals will use your fast twitch muscles that use glycogen as fuel and you wont last as long. You want to pedal at a fast cadence with a lite pressure in the gear that increases your breathing to the point where you can still talk but not sing. If you need to catch your breath drop gown a gear or two and keep pedaling at 70 rpm's. You want to be changing gears to keep you in the most efficient 70-90 rpm's for the body.

Question : What color gear would I need for speedometer cable that goes in my transfer case?
It's a 1976 Chevy k10 , I need to know what color gear I need for my speedometer cable that goes into my transfer case. I have 31 x 10.50 r 15 tires on it what color gear would that require?

Answer:
check with a gm dealer on what it came with stock, and see what is offered, or a good transmission shop.

Question : What gear should I use to drive in the snow in the mountains?
I've recently moved from the beach to the mountains. My Isuzu Trooper has two gear shifts, the standard one that has P, N, R, D, L, and 2. The other one says 2H, 4H, 4L. There is also a button that toggles between Normal and Power. Of course normally I use D, 2H, and Normal. However, it's starting to snow and the roads here are steep and curvy. What do the L and 2 mean, and what's the difference between 4 wheel drive high and 4 wheel drive low?

Answer:
rear wheel is better for up hill try 2nd or 3rd or just get a horse

Question : What gear should I keep my car in when I drive on a highway? I have a 5 speed Manual?
I have a 94 VW Bug I bought and I am teaching myself how to drive a manual. What gear should I keep it in when on the highway? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated because I am scared ta Death!

Answer:
By all means keep it in 5th! That will save you gas and wear on your engine.

Question : What gear in manual transmission is parking?

Answer:
