Questions & Answers
Question : Are larger vehicles more difficult for beginning drivers to drive?
My husband has found a full-sized chevy bronco that he wants to buy for our son for his first vehicle. I like the safety aspect, but I feel that a teen driving a huge vehicle is more likely to have an accident due to inexperience. I personally have always found huge vehicles intimidating and more difficult to judge distances but my husband disagrees and does not see any difference. Anyone have any information on the subject?

Answer:
I like driving a small sedan (Honda Civic) because easy to park, easy to turn, low cost to maintain. I have been driving automatic transmission now for decades.Sometimes in a distant city I need to rent a car.I am no longer able to drive stick shift. My reflexes are attuned to the smaller car ... I have a real hard time how much space to allow for cornering, what's needed for turning, backing up etc.For a new driver, I think a mid sized car is probably better for long term driving skills. Your son can go with a more compact car once he has picked up the basic skills. You might also look at the insurance costs. There are reasons why some cars have big differences in rates. Some are due to peer pressure on kids if they are in sporty cars. Some are due to certain models being targets of car thieves. But some are due to safety statistics.Your insurance agent can advise you on which cars are safest for new drivers, and how come that is.

Question : What states require vehicles to have a license plate in both the rear of the vehicle and the front?
What states require vehicles to have a license plate in both the rear of the vehicle and the front?I was visiting my boyfriend and his family in Lake Forest, IL and his sister was shocked that I didn't have a license plate on the front of my car. I'm pretty sure they do this in Texas too. What states require a front license plate?

Answer:
NJ does and so does NY and PA

Question : How many Japanese vehicles sold in the US are imported from Japan, and how many are domestic?
I'm guessing about 5 percent of Japanese vehicles, like the Toyota Prius, are imported from Japan. Am I close?

Answer:
It really depends on the model...The Toyota Prius sold internationally is solely built in Japan (in one of two plants), but all Prius built in China are sold in China.Toyota does report on the number of domestically-built models it sells in a year. For year end results, look at the December numbers posted in January. for 2008: http://pressroom.toyota.com/pr/tms/08-december-sales.aspx?ncid=12036 Of those Toyota models that have North American production besides the Japanese production (such as the Corolla, Camry, pickup, etc.), about 55% of those models sold in the US are built in North America. You'll have to use the given numbers to figure out actual domestic sales, though. You'll have to check with other "Japanese" manufacturers to find out how many of their models are produced in the US...

Question : Vehicles and big trucks consistently use my driveway when trying to make a three point U turn?
Many vehicles, including parcel delivery trucks use my driveway to make three-point u turns. I live on a residential street. The street is narrow and vehicles take advantage of my driveway, which is wider than those of my neighbors. How can I discourage this behavior? Are there City ordinances (not where I live) or examples of the same situation that any body is aware of that could help me with this problem? Thanks!

Answer:
your driveway is your property.leave your car on the end of the drive to stop the trucks.you might want to speak to your council about getting signs at the end of the street saying "unsuitable for large vehicles" or even making the street one way.

Question : What are the safest types of vehicles when it comes to accidents?
First off, I need to know generally what type of vehicle is safe. For example, out of these, which are the safest, from safest to most dangerous: SUVs, mini vans, vans, small trucks, large trucks, average sized cars, small cars, and large cars? Secondly, what are some of the safest vehicles you know of, and some of the most dangerous? Can you be specific here? Thank you very much ;)

Answer:

Question : How can hybrid vehicles contribute in reducing pollution?
Hybrid vehicles are produced with the help of electrolysis, and if Ethanol is used in the process, then the electricity generation is still less & hence, these vehicles are taken as helpers in reducing pollution. I need a few examples of hybrid vehicles & how do u think they can further reduce pollution? Please use simple terms, and kindly answer my question.

Answer:
Hybrid vehicles are a new product of the automobile industry. Such vehicles are becoming more illustrious as they are very efficient and reduce pollution........................................................................................... .....................................................Environmental ImpactsAir Quality:Hybrid vehicles offer a great improvement on the air quality emissions for vehicles that are powered by gasoline. According to The Green Car Club, hybrids reduce health-threatening tailpipe emissions by 90% and evaporative emissions to almost zero. (The Green Car Club) The hybrid vehicle does contribute to green house emissions just at a reduced rate because the fuel that powers the hybrid comes from a petroleum based fuel. Fuel Production:The pollution associated with the production of fuel for hybrids is the same as the pollution created in the production of fuel for gasoline vehicles because they both use gasoline. The pollution is somewhat reduced for a hybrid vehicle because the vehicle has greater fuel efficiency. There is considerable pollution related to the production of gasoline. Gasoline contains MTBE which is a known cancer causing agent and can cause birth defects if a pregnant mother is exposed to it. Petroleum extraction and transportation has led to some of the worst ecological disasters that the planet has seen. When the Exxon-Valdez capsized it released millions of gallons of petroleum onto pristine coastlines. The environmental damage was monumental. The destruction of the rainforest is rarely associated with petroleum extraction. However the discovery of vast oil reserves and the subsequent drilling of these reserves in Venezuela and other Latin American countries near the equator, has led to the destruction of tropical rainforests. Vehicle Production Pollution:The production process for the hybrid vehicle is very different than the production process of a gasoline vehicle. There are similarities especially in regards to the production of the gasoline powered engine. Thus the production of the gasoline powered engine in the hybrid is similar to that of a gasoline powered vehicle however the addition of the electric engine increases the environmental impact of the production of the hybrid vehicle. The greatest environmental impact comes from the pollution caused by the elaborate battery system that powers the electric engine. The battery pollution is substantial because the creation of the batteries requires destructive mining to produce the batteries and the caustic substances that power the batteries must later be disposed of. The caustic substances that power the batteries are very poisonous and when released into the environment leech into the waterways and poison groundwater. .................................................................................................... ............................................Hybrid vechiles 1) Toyota Prius2) Honda Civic Hybrid3) Honda Insight4) Ford Fusion Hybrid -[2010 car of the year]5) Mercury Milan HybridThis link may help also:http://www.nrdc.org/energy/plugin.pdf

Question : What current vehicles would make good survival bug out vehicles?
I have been looking into survival and bug out gear on the internet and youtube videos. They say 4X4 vehicles with diesel engines are the best for bugout vehicles. What vehicle would you choose?

Answer:
I'm not a vehicle expert but i do know a little about emergency preparedness. I get the the Newsletter from FrontierSurvival.com and they had a little info in the last one about bugging out. Here is a quote from the them on bug out transportation"Transportation: You may also want to keep your car's tank at least half full, since gas pumps may not work if there's no electric power. By the time you reach a gas station, you may be likely to find it sold out - or charging exorbitant prices, because the owners know you didn't have any choice but to pay what they ask. Much better to leave with a full tank of gas, and enough in spare containers to fill up on the road, if you have to, in order to reach your destination. And remember a big vehicle can be a handicap. It's not a bad idea to have smaller, more maneuverable vehicles, and a smaller travel trailer, so that one can "squeeze through" in a tight traffic situation. Another point a big SUV or pickup burns a lot of fuel. This is bad news when there's no fuel available!"

Question : What type of vehicles besides vans can fit mobility scooters?
I'm thinking something like an suv, but the height on some scooters can range from 30"-47" which can be too tall to fit in the cargo door of an suv. I can't seem to find cargo door height in the specs of vehicles.

Answer:
if you don wan o have to use a big vehicle hey sell a rack that mounts to the back of any car that will carry a mobility scooter ,nice thing is you can switch it between cars

Question : How do I restore a salvage title for a vehicle? What license is required if I resell these vehicles?
I wanted to buy, restore, and resell a salvage title vehicle. How do I get a regular title for these vehicles that I restore? Am I required to have any license by law to resell these vehicle on ebay motors?

Answer:
once a car has a salvage title, it has it forever, there are ways to clean it up but by doing so and resellil the car, you would be defrauding someone ,so I won't tell how to do it

Question : Why are vehicles costing more to get repaired than the actual price of the vehicle itself?
If the costs of vehicle repairs goes up, shouldn't the value of vehicles go up as well. There's no way in hell, that there ever should be a vehicle that costs more to be fixed and repaired than the actual vehicle is worth. In these few years, repair costs from mechanics have been outrageous. It's a big fraction of the already actual blue book value of the vehicle from the very first repair ever.

Answer:
If you take your car to be repaired at a new car dealer - then of course the cost of repair will be high in order to induce you to buy a newer (implied) care free car. If you're smart you take your car to a local reputable car repair clinic and have the work done, at about the cost of 1/4 of the cars worth! However, let us say that if you have to spend $$$$ on repairs - you should consider trading. I've had the same car for over 18 years - over that time frame - it has cost as much to repair as it did to buy the car. However, that included such things as regular replacement of batteries, tires, windshield wipers, brakes and Smog checks and state fees. I never added up the Insurance or gas.
