Questions & Answers
Question : Hello! Do any of you make Doll Clothes?
I have already asked in the Fashions and Accessories Category.... I need to find out how to go about measuring a doll, so that I can buy clothes for them. I am buying dolls at garage sales and most of them need clothes...no, I can't sew. I am wanting to take them to The Red Cross for children who have lost everything. I want the dolls to look really nice.
Answer:
Measure the doll head to toe and that will be the size clothes you need to look for for that doll. For example say Barbie is a 12 inch doll then any clothes made for a 12 inch doll would fit. Some dolls come in at 10 inches and I think the Cabbage Patch type are about 15 inches. Sweet Idea,Good Luck with it.

Question : plus size fashion doll?
If an independent doll manufacturer would create a fashion doll, same height as Barbie but with thicker body frame and beautiful in the face, who has her own trendy fashion clothing and accessories, has her own friends either thick or thin, has her own boyfriend, her own doll house and furniture, etc., then the company who will manufactures the doll will make a profitable killing in the toy market. It might give Matel a run its money. What do you think? You think it's time for a plus size fashion doll to be added to the market?
Answer:
The funny thing is, Mattel tried that already... it didn't sell. Who wants to be the kid with the plus sized Barbie? Honestly though, I have loved Barbie all my life and never resented my plus sized body because a toy is skinnier than me. I think the idea is ridiculous and people need to stop trying to place blame on toy manufacturers for a child's self esteem issues. I mean, I wish I had longer legs but you don't see me blaming stretch armstrong for that!Mattel's response to the unrealistic body type issue, when plus sized dolls failed, was to create a new body type called the model muse body, which is basically an excuse to make barbie even thinner by basing her on the measurements of real models. So they did make her chest smaller and her legs longer, but also gave her a visible ribcage..

Question : let's be mean your fashion 10 worst list?
It has been done before, even by me but every so often I feel the need ask again what are the worst fashion trends you see out and about at the mall or school or on the street. This is your chance to let it out!1. Still goes to sagging pants. Why can't guys get there pant waists up where the waist of their body is perplexes me. That is why it's called the waist of your pants not the butt or knee of your pants. I don't want to see your ugly expensive underwear mommy bought, I don't care if you are afraid of a poopy stain because you can't wipe properly. Pull them up!2. Affliction and Ed Hardy clothes I loathe them so, however, as much I loathe them it has made that much easier to tell who is afflicted by douchbaggery because it makes you look like one. And I am still at a loss as to why people feel the need to wear huge logos on everything like they are a billboard.3. "Vintage" band shirts, especially for tours from long before the wearer was born. I don't screw with your bands by a shirt for music I care nothing about so my bands alone, thanks you. And as a 3 1/2 how come there are no band shirt for legendary women musicians on the same level as men. Carole King, Etta James, Heart, Aretha, Joni Mitchell?4. Vampires are in and that is so not cool as the son of dentist if I see another pair of fake fangs I'm draw some blood but not with my plastic teeth.5. Uggs (Auusie called them that cause they were ugly so who in the US decided they were cute).6. Lensless glasses, shutter glasses... what the... glasses are meant to help you see or protect your eyes not block your vision and look stupid the process.7. emo/scene hair mostly because when it is done it is done wrong and poorly (e.g. DIY). It looks way to poofed out and frizzy thanks to the flat ironing and the hairspray. Then of course there is the whole "layered" effect and the reverse mullet (short in the back long in the front). I've see a few folk do it well but just end up looking whiny and moody but with bad hair. I almost went that root but then I went to this person called a "hairstylist" who is trained to work with hair and she saved my follicles. Lastly ye with the emo hair usually have it covering the the eyes. Okay it looks cool occasionally in a photo but all the time is just dumb. You can't see where you are going so you run into me and then I have to punch you.8. Not really fashion related other than it sets up awful stereotypes and gives bad ideas to young children about how girls should look, but Bratz dolls and the worse toddler bratz dolls (how Bratz got worse is a miracle). This is on my radar because I am now an Uncle and I'll be damned if her self-esteem will be altered by effing trashy dolls. Which means of course the the whole Disney and it sexist teen stars and shows is also on my watch list.9. Foil gansta print on anything especially guns and diamonds.10. A belt is a great accessory and I love some of the belt buckles you can find now. But wearing more than one belt and wearing it half on so it hangs down on the side is L-A-M-E. It is great however for giving me something to grab onto when I toss you and your emo hair in front of a taxi after you run into me because you couldn't see with the bad hair and the sutter shades.
Answer:
Crocs...They have to go....NOWDouble Denim. (Jean jacket/denim jeans) A lot of designers are trying to bring it back and I'm like, "Oh hell no."Bright blue eyeshadow up to the girls brow.SaggingPlunging tops down to the girls waist. Camo. Capri's from 2002ect.

Question : Stores with adorable and cheap clothes, shoes, makeup, jewelry, bags, etc..?
I need a new wardrobe for summer and fall but my prom dress was like $12,000 so my parents are giving me a little less money to buy clothes, accessories, makeup, shoes, jewelry, etc... and I am very fortunate and I have been blessed with being able to go on nice trips, having nice clothes, a nice house, etc.. and lets just say I have been a little spoiled (**I AM NOT SAYING THIS TO BRAG, JUST TO SHOW YOU MY BACKGROUND**) and so I usually get clothes every other week or so at Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, etc.. and now I have a lot less spending money because 1) I spent so much money on prom, and 2) I got in trouble with my parents.. long story so I need to know stores that have really cute, fashion forward, affordable clothes that look expensive. Please let me know with websites! Thanks dolls. -Ali xoxoand sorry I don't mean to sound snobby or anything but I will never ever ever buy something from a thrift store. Just thinking about wearing someone else's used clothes makes me gag!

Question : How do I become the next Barbie or Bratz (Business-wise not Beauty and Fashion-Wise)...Please Read On...?
(I'm 13 and I love to dream big) You know how The Barbie Company and Bratz Company has every item for girls and teens. From dolls to shampoos to clothes to shoes to accessories to bedrooms to movies to kitchen appliances (I know!) to beauty items to make-up to online games to websites to video games to tv series to backpacks and everything else! What's next: A real Barbie car for a human! (Don't tell me they already made that!)I want my GI-NORMOUS, multi-billion international business/corporation to be better then The Barbie/Bratz Company and I will aim the audience specifically at tween and teen girls And plus I'll call it something else (well duh!). I'm probably thinking of calling mine Girly Girls or something like that! How do I get started, I am completely CLUELESS!?Sorry if I seem unspecific!
Answer:
You are dreaming big! Start thinking of ideas now, and write them down. Once you get into high school and college, study buisness! That education will help you achieve your goal. And whatever happens, don't let go of that dream! Good luck!

Question : Do I sound like a "cake face" or fake?
If anyone doesn't know what a cake face is, it's someone who wears too much makeup. I've just turned fourteen (I'm in eighth grade) and I have drastically changed my style. My peers used to know me as "wrist cutter" and "Emo girl" because I was very good at abstract, surreal and dark waved poetry (English, Literacy), art and composing sad music. It's really shallow of them, but you get used to it. I started dressing Gothic Lolita. It's a Japanese fashion style/subculture wear girls dress elegantly; like dolls from the eighteenth and nineteenth century. It has nothing to do with Lolita from that stupid novel or pedophilia. Just Google it and you'll get what I mean.I've been wearing the fashion for a bit over a year now. I came over to my friends house because she wanted me to try on dresses (she calls me her little doll). However, she mentioned that I am so-called "incredibly gorgeous", but I'm a bit cake faced. I must admit, I wear a lot of makeup. I wear IQQU Acne Serum and Sunscreen, stick foundation, Concealer, finishing powder, eye shadow (black, purple, brown and grey), lots of eyeliner, red lipstick, red lip gloss, and black, blue or grey Korean circle lenses. I always make sure I have a shower every day, curl my hair, coordinate and pick out my clothes and accessories, have all my school supplies ready and homework done (studying for tests too), and have a nice French manicure (with well groomed nails). I practice how I react to people's rude remarks and how I'll respond to questions in the mirror for about an hour. God, I guess I'm just paranoid of everyone bullying me again. High school is coming soon and I'm nervous of what people will think of me. I've been living a fake personality since seventh grade (I'm still a child, but I'm probably smarter than a lot of you). I act mature, kind, gentle, sweet, caring and exceptionally polite in front of people, but in reality, I'm really humorous, goofy, jumpy, but kind of vulgar, cruel and uncaring. It's sad how I changed myself due to my elegant lifestyle. Should I go back to the way I was, or stay elegant?Ah, I think lightening up on the makeup would be good. ^^"BTW, I don't look like a fourteen year old with no tits. I developed all the "stuff" when I was eleven or so. I'm five foot seven. People who meet me think I'm seventeen...Apology accepted. :3 And I'm actually not very approachable. I'm too quiet. Plus, people still think I'm Emo. The bragging part is accidental; I really don't have much self-esteem. I'm just proud to be smarter and take care of myself than a lot of people my age, that's all.
Answer:
It's fine. You're fourteen, not twelve, you're growing up! It's better to have 'a lot' of makeup NOW, then when you're twenty-five and you're scrutinised even more so. However, I must agree, turn down the makeup a bit. It's school, and you're there to concentrate.Your style is Gothic Lolita, which takes a lot of guts! Even if people accuse you of being a fake and wanting to stand out, they need to understand how hard it is to pull it off with such criticism, which is why there aren't many people who dress Lolita outside of Japan. My two friends dress Gothic Lolita, and have been doing so since last year, this year we are turning fifteen.I go to quite a crappy school, in fact we were on the news for a facebook group issue. There's a lot of bullying here - but not as much fights, thankfully! XD But yeah, since we wear uniforms, we can only dress how we want around once a term. Each time, my two friends would wear their Lolita dresses, and did not get bullied.OH, and your personality kind of reminds me of my Lolita-style friend, except more cheerful. She's quite a gentle, mature, polite and caring person on the outside, but if you become friends with her, you notice that she has a bit of a murderous and sinister mindset. lol xD

Question : Doll-like fashion...?
I am 16, and I am obsessed with fashion. I love a lot of different styles and am kind of stuck with how I should dress so I am researching a couple of styles I could incorporate.I would love some ideas for how to incorperate the doll-like look into my style.I collect porcelain dolls which is what gave me this idea. I would like ideas for clothes, accessories and colours. I don't mind standing out in what I wear, so don't worry about suggesting more extreme things, I can always tone them down. I am also a good sewer, so I can make a lot of things myself.Thank you for the help. xoxoxo
Answer:
I am also 16, and love fashion too. Adding a doll-like quality to your clothes can be very sweet and understated. Wikihow has great How-To guides for a lot fo things, and here are some websites that might interest you:http://www.wikihow.com/Look-Like-a-Baby-Dollhttp://www.wikihow.com/Be-Doll-Likehttp://www.wikiho w.com/Be-a-Sweet-Lolitahttp://www.wikihow.com/Become-a-Lifestyle-LolitaGood luck developing your own style. Don't forget that your clothes should be an expresssion of yourself, not you an expression of your clothes. Some of these websites are about living a life that suits your clothes, so you can see if you would like that sort of thing and maybe even try something new.xoxoxo

Question : Personal narrative edited, more detail?
Too often, words are taken for granted. From the time we first learn to speak they become our best friends. With them, we are given the capability to communicate our wants and our desires, our needs and our emotions. In theory, they are mere letters, symbols on pages and jumbled sounds, that when strung together make a longer, more mish-mashed sound. They become so common that little meaning is left in them. But when someone cannot speak, words become everything. Flashback ten years ago, I was six. My brother Jacob was four. Being so close in age, we were each other’s best friends. I let him beat the crap out of me in exchange for his participation in my Barbie fashion shows. It was a system that worked. And so, it was on a particularly dreary Saturday afternoon that Jacob and I sat, quite contentedly on our bedroom floor, an array of Barbie dolls and their accessories spread before us. I hummed softly to myself as I arranged the clothes first by color and then by style. I was quite the OCD child. Jacob, as usual, remained quiet. His silence was not foreign to me. In fact, it was the only way I had ever known. Not once in my four years of knowing him could I recollect him uttering a single sound, save an occasional grunt or cry. Although, if I am truthful, I considered his muteness partially my own fault. When it became apparent that he had no intention of “using his words” as my mother called it, I stepped up to the plate. I became his voice. They often say that babies have their own form of communication. I do not doubt it, because we did too. If he needed to use the bathroom, I would be the one to quietly whisper in my mother’s ear. If he wanted more juice, I fetched it for him. He never wanted for anything, and as such, he really had no need to speak for himself. But, in reality, it was never my fault. Although I was unaware of it at the time, Jacob was Autistic. “There’s nothing wrong with him,” the doctors had said. “He’ll speak when he’s ready.” And I believed them, for a short while anyway. Many compare Autism to a puzzle. It’s complex, full of pieces with jagged edges and blunt sides. It’s one of those puzzles that sit on a shelf for years because it seems impossible to finish. And it isn’t until a few pieces have been linked together that the picture begins to shift from a mass of odd colors, to a recognizable image. “No,” he whispered, as I pulled a glittering pink dress from my pile. I vividly remember glancing up in complete bewilderment. Had he really just spoken? “The blue one.”That afternoon, Jacob put the first pieces together. How can this be made better?
Answer:
*squints at story and rereads**rereads second time*I am sorry but i really don't know how to improve this story. unless if you plan on rewriting the whole darn thing and taking it from a different persepective or such but i think that you already have it the best that it can be... so...

Question : Anyone else get just the tiniest feeling of satisfaction when...?
I know it's awful but does anyone else besides me get just the tiniest feeling of glee when one of those outrageously expensive and super trendy baby products gets recalled for safety reasons? I live in CT and there's a shopping area not far from me where all the snobby SAHMs stroll along with their 700-1200 dollar strollers, babies all dolled up in Janie and Jack or whatever All-organic trendy boutique outfit they found, etc. They sit at Starbucks and chat about how they have already filled out applications for thier 3 month olds to attend the best pre-schools around, blah-blah-blah...Don't get me wrong, I think a lot of expensive baby things are very nice. I would certainly buy all organic clothing and specail cloth diapers (but not at $30 a pop) if I could afford them... but it's the way they carry the babies around like a fashion accessory and look down on someone who can't afford to spend $60 on an all organic outfit for their child to outgrow in a month! I believe in doing what I can for the environment and my priority is keeping my 8 month old daughter happy and healthy. I make her foods at home from scratch and use organic whole grains and fruits and veggies but I do it for her health, not to tell my snobby friends I am doing it. (Besides it ends up saving me money in the long run, LOL. So... anyway, back to my point... every once in a while it's just so satisfying to see one of their super trendy strollers or something like that get a big recall. Anyone else feel this way? And no, it's not a jeallousey thing. I was raised to spend wisely and to appreciate what I have. I'm not poor but I am a single mother and I watch my money.
Answer:
Yeh. My mum bought Soph a Tutti Bambini cot bed, along with the spring mattress it cost £250 all in - it was her baby gift to us.My BF cousin, bought the most beautifil oval cots, with 2 sets of all matching bedding. It had the drapes over it and it was just stunning. I think it topped about £6-700.They were always very quick to flash pics of their daughter in it, she is 2 weeks younger than soph. Then it got recalled. And I was sooooo tempted to say, well, my ''cheap tat'' is still standing, where's your trendy cot now?
