i build all sorts of models, including doll house furniture. just use your imagination. examples; a piece of textured wall paper can pass as carpeting, if you can sew, a bag of cotton balls and cloth can be used to upholster almost any kind of card board or wood frame into furniture. to keep objects in scale for a 11.5" doll a 1/2 in = 1 foot. as you look around all kind of ideas will come to you...hope this helps.

Question : How to make dollhouse furniture?
I feel really creative and I want to make doll house furniture, I've been wanting to do it for ages but whenever I try I fail and I do loads of research but I still can't do it, I'm hopeless. I need directions and videos, stuff like that.I don't have much material, I have cardboard and the main stuff.

My Papa made all of the furniture for the doll house he made for me and it is really not terribly difficult, but it takes some creativity. Start with instructions to make simple furniture and then scale it down to size. A lot depends on the doll house you want to build furniture for and its scale. Cardboard mock ups are a good way to start as is upholstered furniture like ottomans. Look for full scale instructions then use online calculators to scale them down to size. Start simple. Or even purchase a few kits that are balsa wood to get used to the assembly process, the hardware, the problems, and the finishing process. Then you will begin to be able to design your own custom pieces.It takes a lot of practice and there isn't a lot out there but thriftyfun.com has some ideas for making it out of household items which may be a good place to start.

My first thought was to find real twigs and such, clean them up, and make rustic looking furniture since yours is a farmhouse. I think of this as old-timey Appalachian furniture, but don't know what the real name would be.Also, there are a lot of ideas on the internet including 1:12 scale patterns to download for free!
