Questions & Answers
Question : Do you think an AG Bitty Baby is a good "big sister" gift for our 2.5 YO, and when should we give it?
I am trying to decide on a "big sister" gift for our 2.5 YO. I am due in 28 days so I need to decide quick LOL. I was going to get her a necklace/bracelt before but she is so young and quite petite for her age that I don't think that is the best idea. "Santa" is bringing her lots of baby doll stuff this year, a really nice baby crib and change station and high chair along with a TON of accessories. So I was thinking that giving her a "nice" baby doll for when her brother was born is a good idea. I've never seen/felt/held a "bitty baby" in person but are they softer in the middle? SO she can sleep with it? Or is their whole body ridgid? Also when do you think the best time to give it to her would be? I am having a second baby shower thrown by some friends who weren't at my first and that's on the 14. Would it be better to give it to her then? Or wait until we are in the hospital? I'm torn between those becasue I feel like if I give it to her before she will get to "love" it and sort of become "attached" to it in the weeks before her brother is born. And we can "practice" putting diapers on it/feeding it ect. But with this I sort of feel like since it's not the same day ect it isn't AS special. I also feel like it might be nice to give it to her while we're in the hospital. Like have it laying in the new baby's bed thing when he isn't and have her get "her baby". My only concern with that is that since she will be sooo excited about her new brother the baby doll will be pushed to the side sort of, and I really want her to connect with it so she isn't craving for attention so much when I'm home with him. Like she'll already be connected to the doll if I do it before and then she change it/feed it when I do. ANy thoughts? Also do premie sized baby clothes fit a bitty baby?

Answer:
We bought our daughter a Bitty Baby for the Christmas she was 2.5 and she absolutely loves it, still does to this day (she's five now). They are soft in the middle and pretty cuddly. Preemie clothes *might* fit it, the dolls are 15 inches. But if you spring for the "starter kit" you'll get three outfits, a pair of shoes, a diaper, a blanket, a backpack/carrier, a teddy, a bottle, a bib, and a book. When my daughter got it I was 6 months pregnant with my son and when we went to the hospital she brought it along with her, we gave her something else when we were at the hospital (a shirt that says "Big Sister", small plush toy, and a few books) and she was really happy with that. So you could give it to her before hand so you can do the things you said, like practice diapering and swaddling and caring for a baby, and give give her little things at the hospital. Best of luck & congrats!

Question : What did you and your children get for Christmas?
Merry Christmas Everyone!!! What did everyone and their families get for Christmas??I got a new tupperware set, a towel warmer, perfume, slippers, and pajamas. My husband got the towel warmer (we share it) slippers, Seinfeld on DVD, tickets to a basketball game, and new cologne. My 6 year old daughter got clothes, an American Girl Doll and accessories, a zhuzhu pet, and Littlest Pet Shops and Barbies. My 3 year old daughter got clothes, a Bitty Baby and accessories, a zhuzhu pet, Littlest Pet Shops, and Barbies (the girls got basically the same things)My 4 month old son got clothes, an exersaucer, and baby toys.Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Answer:
My son and I gave my ex-husband (who is visiting us for Christmas) Season 7 of Hawaii Five-O, a baseball hat, and flip flops. My son got a Monster Maker, a Ripstick, a Ladybug for his iShuffle, 2 remote controlled planes, a science discovery kit, a skimboard, a game, and some other things.I got a deep fryer, earrings, an old-fashioned picture of my sister and me from 25 years ago, a camera, and 2 CDs (Oingo Boingo and Carrie Underwood).

Question : What's a good doll I can buy to help my 19month old daughter adjust to a new sibling?
Hello all,I'm expecting a second baby in May & my daughter will be 19months. I'm thinking I want to get her a doll for Christmas, something to help her perhaps understand about babies & I'm thinking while I'm doing whatever with my second baby (feeding, changing etc), I could encourage my daughter to do the same with her baby, a way of helping her feel involved & not left out (which I gather is a major thing!!). I'm chasing ideas of good dolls to buy my daughter. I'm hoping to get one that I can easily buy clothes & other accessories for. Please help with brands (& where to buy from) of dolls you know will be suitable. Thanks so much :)

Answer:
"You and Me" dolls are popular. They are softer but still look real and usually come with accessories (bottle, pacifier, etc.)http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3535466

Question : When would be a better time to give my daughter her "big sister" gift I got her?
I got her an AG Bitty Baby for becomming a "big sister". I found out that I am having a "sprinkle" thrown by some friends on Nov 14. I am due Dec3. I was wondering if the sprinkle might be a good time to give my daughter her gift from me. I was originally planning on giving it to her at the hospital when she came to visit her new brother the first time. However that was when I was planning on getting her a necklace/bracelet which I decided against. I think that maybe giving her that baby doll at my shower will give her a chance to "bond" with it before her brother is here. And then in the hospital give her a few outfits/accessories to go with her baby. As far as I can tell the bitty baby should fit into preemie baby clothes so I picked up a few things from Walmart. Everyone besides my SIL and MIL know that I know about the "sprinkle" because it has literally been 1 giant disaster after another; but that's a diff story. When would you give it to her?

Answer:
I made my daughter a huge basket with big girl gifts (she was 4) when my youngest was born. I decided to give it to her when she came to visit her sister in the hospital. I saw it in her eyes when she saw her new sissy. She was afraid she wouldn't be getting as much attention. I made it a point to have the grandmothers take my baby girl in the hall while my husband and I showered my 4 yr old with attention and hugs and reassurance and gave her the gift basket. If I were you, I would wait. Sometimes the big kids are really going through a lot that first time they see a new addition. They've been the only child and now bam! a new baby comes along and it's all "for real."Another thing you could do is give her the bitty baby and accessories at the shower then at the hospital give her a journal or a children's scrapbook. Tell her it's for her- all about her- and that you will set aside time to help her create her scrapbook. That would mean a lot to her, too. Have a picture ready with her and her bitty baby and ask her if she wants to glue it on the cover.

Question : Do you think the American Girl Bitty Baby is a good "big sister gift" for our 2.5 YO when our baby is born?
I am trying to decide on a "big sister" gift for our 2.5 YO. I am due in 28 days so I need to decide quick LOL. Like she'll already be connected to the doll if I do it before and then she change it/feed it when I do. ANy thoughts? Also do premie sized baby clothes fit a bitty baby?Well my 2 YO is actually quite responsible if that even sounds possible. She gets her OCD tendencies from me LOL. And I'd rather get her a nicer doll that she can have forever because it's made of better quality. It's not a gift from the baby it's a gift from me. And the bitty baby although made by American Girl is really just a nicer baby doll. It's not "American GIrl" themed at all

Answer:
if she likes american girl. at 2 years old, i don't think she'll care if the baby got her a gift.add: well, in that case she's gotta love it. i would wait until you get home to give it to her though, so you two can have a quick moment together. then, as you wash your baby and dress him, she can do the same with hers.

Question : Do all the accessories for the baby born doll fit the baby born that comes with the potty?
I have bought my daughter the baby born doll that comes with the potty, i have also bought her lots of clothes for the doll and the horse for it to ride on. Can anyone tell me if this stuff is suitable for the doll or if there is a separate doll? Thanks

Answer:
Im' not sure if I understand your question correctly but if the clothes are not for the doll you bought then they might not fit. There are dolls of different sizes, built etc. so not every clothes that fit one doll will fit another. The same thing is true the horse. The dolls are of different sizes you you have to make sure the horse in not too small or not too big.

Question : Christmas Shopping for 1 yr old...thoughts and questions?
I've pretty much made up my mind on getting my 1 yr old (she will be 14 months on Christmas) baby doll things for Christmas. I've been looking around online and I found some doll furniture that I like and that I think will hold up for a while. However, our oldest, who is 3 1/2 still plays with babydolls too! I'm wondering if i should get things for the youngest, knowing our oldest will want to play too and figure eventually, everything will be passed down to the youngest? Or should I buy specifically for the 1yr old? My oldest has baby doll accessories like bottles, a stroller, and a pack-n-play that I got her when our youngest was born! I was kind of thinking One has some things, the other has some things, and they can all play together and share!? What do you think?I have also tried out my daughter's newborn-size clothes on my oldest daughter's 18" baby doll and it all seems to fit! So I would like to find a doll that can fit in these clothes so that 1, I'm not spending money on doll clothes, and 2.. well, I can't seem to give these clothes up, so why not let my girls play with them?? =)So my questions are:1- Which do you like better? http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2962597 (my husband thinks this looks nicer/ cuter) or http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4111802 (I think both of our daughters could play with this one.. but it's supposed to be a gift for our youngest.)2- Do you have any ideas for a baby doll that will fit in Newborn-sized baby clothes? This is one I found http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2333474 (Do you think the clothes will fit it?)3- What are you getting your child(ren) for Christmas?4- What is your budget for each child? (Just curious.. BTW, these items I show I've actually found cheaper at another store, so I'm also waiting to see what kinds of deals Cyber Monday brings!! lol)

Answer:
1. I like the 2nd one better. It looked like there was 2 beds and even though it's for your youngest they will still probably play together.2. I'm pretty sure that doll will work but they have them at Walmart, Dollar Stores and Big Lots (if you have one in your area) that also fits in Newborn clothes that is only $10 if the price matters to you.3. We bought them a table top Foosball and Pool table, a toy kitchen, race tracks and Hot wheels, Baby Alive baby dolls and accessories and board games. We may be a few more things. I'm not sure.4. We don't really have a set price but we don't spend loads of money on them either. I'm not really sure but I'm guessing around $100-$150 each on our kids. Sometimes it is less depending on finances and what they want. I don't think we've spent more than that though as we also have 2 nephews and a niece to buy for.

Question : Selling American Girl Doll clothes and accessories?
During elementary school, I bought 7 American Girl Dolls/Bitty babies. I also had a bunch of clothes & accessories for the dolls. I have my dolls on a shelf in my rooms, and I plan on keeping them to pass down to my kids. But those clothes & accessories were expensive and I never use them anymore. Is there any way to sell them and get some money back? I don't really know any kids that collect them, so I'm not sure what to do. I feel bad having everything sitting in boxes.

Answer:
i loved those things! ebay.
