Questions & Answers
Question : What are some dolls with the height of 10 cm?
I collect 10 cm dolls for my doll house. I have an extensive collection of Kelly dolls and tiny bjd's, and was wondering what other brands sell child-like posable dolls that are around 10 cm.

Answer:
Licca has twin younger sisters, named Miki and Maki. They're similar to Kelly, but with a bigger head. Each one also has a boyfriend. There's also a set of triplet babies named Kako, Gen, and Miku.

Question : What kind of materials to make anime plush dolls?
For a while I've been thinking of making plush dolls of characters from different animes (don't know which ones yet) as my hobby or something. The thing is, I don't know what kind of materials I need to make a plush doll. Can someone tell me what material I need? Maybe even show me a how-to article on making anime plush dolls? It would really mean a lot!Thank you!

Answer:
(I'm answering as if you're a novice to sewing, disregard most of my answer if you're familiar with a sewing machine, please =^.^=)As the above poster stated, fleece or felt are good fabrics to use; this is because they don't fray at the edges if you don't bind them. They also are more resistant to the fibers you stuff your creatures with sticking out. Sometimes (I think it happens when you have a low thread count in your fabric) the fluff inside whatever you make starts to come out as itchy hairs. Satin is particularly horrible about this problem. I'd suggest using a sewing machine if you have access to one, it makes much easier. Another suggestion, and the best I have, is not to start too small. You may think that it'll be easier for you if you begin with a small plush because if you screw up they'll be less material waste, or less margin for error, but trust me - the smaller something is, the harder it is to sew. Begin with more simple shapes, and then expand to harder things. You can also get great advice on exactly what fabric you're using if you ask the nice ladies (and sometimes men) in your local fabric store. Tell them you're making a stuffed toy, instead of an anime doll if you're afraid of getting looks. (In my town, if you say "cosplay" or "anime" you'll get a negative reaction. You can also find patterns for sale from pattern books and with a little editing, they could turn into a character - maybe a teddy bear could be stylized to Ranma 1/2? Patterns come with instruction sheets telling you how to put the pieces you cut out together, and starting with a pattern you don't have to worry about all the parts matching up as much as if you just designed it yourself. You may also find a book about making stuffed animals which could come in useful as it should depict different techniques for creating plushies that you can take and apply to different projects.Best of luck on your journey into the wonderful world of textile crafts!

Question : What is the difference between american girl dolls and my generation dolls?
I decided that last Christmas to get my daughter a My Generation doll vs. the American Girl doll. Just to see how she would take care of it before getting the $90 doll. The question I have is how is the hair on these two dolls different. I find that the My Generation dolls hair is very dry, frizzy and thin where you can see the scalp on any hair style (from day one). My daughter is very frustrated by this and was wondering if the quality of the hair on an American girl doll is much better. Otherwise she loves playing with her doll. So I was wondering if anyone out there has experience both dolls and what there opinion is? Thanks!

Answer:
Hi, my daughters have 2 of each type, and we've had lots of AG dolls come to visit. Our OGG hair is a total mess. AG hair is better, but don't think it's perfect. Kit and Nicki have very easy to manage hair because it's short. A couple of the look like me dolls hair is shorter as well. But the other long haired dolls hair will get kind of yucky if you don't take care of it. Kristen and Molly in particular have very difficult hair. It comes braided and most little girls will have those braids out by the second day and you will NEVER get them back as nice as they were the day they came home. Even the straight and long haired dolls hair suffers with play. It gets sort of frizzy at the ends. You can comb through it but it's not as smooth as day 1. And you can see some scalp/wig base on the real AG dolls as well if you do certain hairstyles. Worst case scenario you can send an AG doll with trashed hair to the doll hospital and have it re-wigged. Hair aside, the AG dolls do have a nicer overall feel to them. They weigh a bit more and feel nicer in the arms. They sit better (less spread-eagle). The clothes for the OGG girls will fit, but pants from the OGG dolls will be a little tight on an AG doll and shoes may be a bit hard to pull on (AG dolls' feet are wider).ps new AG doll (Julie) coming out Aug. 20th!

Question : What kind of dolls would be appropriate to buy?
I'm interested in becoming a doll collector, but I don't have enough money to collect more than one BJD. No, I'm not going to take photographs of Barbies and baby dolls. So what kind of dolls could I collect to photograph that are in the $10 - $40 range?

Answer:
you could go for Obitsu or Azone dolls they can be customizeable like BJD"s but lots cheaper they are around 21-27 cm (if your buying a Blank doll)

Question : What are the dolls that you sometimes get in parenting classes called?
They are dolls but act and do everything that a real life baby does.Where can i get one and how much?

Answer:
they are called baby think it over dolls and they are made by a company called reality works in eau claire wi. But they will not sell a baby think it over to any one other than educators. The only way to get one is off of ebay and if you want one that does all the stuff you are looking at any where between $350 to $700 depending on who else has bid on them.

Question : What is the difference between Myscene dolls and Bratz dolls?
They look exactly the same. And I don't quite get the hostility towards Bratz dolls. I heard one woman say that "any mother who lets her kids play with Bratz dolls should have her kids taken away". A little extreme I think.I remember the fuss over Barbie too. People complained and as a result, Barbie's measurements were changed. And Barbie is so physically and morally perfect, and therefore completely unrealistic (how many of us are ever going to get to be princesses). So I can't help but think that there are always going to be people to complain about something.

Answer:
Myscene dolls were created by the Barbie manufacturer in response to the Bratz dolls. The hostility towards the Bratz dolls has to do with their skimpy clothes and the emphasis on the bling. And I do understand why some moms are very uncomfortable with the message this may be sending to their daughters. But I let my girls have them and Barbies. Maybe because I remember people fussing about Barbie when I was a kid. I understood that it was just a doll and my girls also understand. I explain that their clothes are fine for make believe, but that you wouldn't want to dress like that in real life. I think that one woman you mentioned is absolutely insane.

Question : What are those dolls that you can customize hair, eye and skin color, choose outfits, and then buy?
I saw these dolls online about a year ago, they are teenage girl dolls, very pretty and very trendy fashions. You could choose the dolls skin color, hair color and eye color, then dress her head to toe in available fashions, and preview the finished product before purchasing. Trouble is, I can't remember what they are called! Can you help?

Answer:
I'm not exactly sure if they are the ones you are thinking about, but you can customize your own American Girl doll to make it look how you want to.
