Questions & Answers
Question : Building up a wardrobe after a fire?
My friend is going to be coming tomorrow evening to live with me after a fire destroyed his condo across the country. Thankfully everyone is ok and he had his wallet and cat when he left but he has no clothing other than what a friend who he is staying with gave him to use. I would like to have a pretty good wardrobe all set up for him when he comes. I have all his measurements from when I had him fitted for a tux for my wedding. I just need an idea of all the little odds and ends, specific articles of clothing, accessories, etc that a man would need. We will be so busy helping him set up office in my house and taking care of all the legal stuff there is to do that we wont have time to shop for the next week or so, in that time we have 3 parties (one needing a tux) to attend so I need things for that too. Also, we live in New England so we need winter things too! Money is no issue. Thanks for your help making out my shopping listI understand your concern Amber. But he does know I am doing this and I have been picking out clothing with him for years, hes my best friend. I am only asking so that I don't miss anything. I have a tendency to forget something small yet essential (like when I forgot to pack bras last vacation)

Answer:
why not just let him buy what he wants. if he doesn't have clothes he can go shopping online. Buying clothes for someone else is not that easy, if it was you wouldn't be asking total strangers what to buy. You really need to know his style and tastes to be able to do something like that. I think it was a good idea but it can possibly backfire.

Question : With the Canon 7d and 430ex ii flash, can i set up wireless flash.?
I know you have to use the built in flash to fire the external flash; however, can i fire without having to fire the built in flash first. IF NOT, where can i find an accessory to block the built in flash.

Answer:
The camera uses the built-in flash to communicate with the external flash, blocking it could prevent the wireless control from operating effectively. In some situations, non-line-of-sight operation is possible, but the system is designed for line-of-sight. Light from the built-in flash should not affect your images to the extent that you require it to be blocked. If it is a problem for you, just use a smaller aperture.

Question : Can I add a built in soft top to a hard top 2010 Jeep Wrangler?
I see you can buy a set up where the soft top stows away with the hard top on from the factory but, only with a tan interior. Just wondering if I bought a hard top can I add this down the road either as an accessory or in the aftermarket?

Answer:
look at quadratec.com . They have several options for a soft top. A lot of people like the trek top option but there are tons of aftermarket jeep parts.http://www.quadratec.com/categories/jeep_soft_tops/

Question : chevy 350 With no accesory holes in heads?
Im building a 350 with camel hump heads off 66 corvette, im wondering what to do without drilling accessory holes in the heads. I want an electric fan set up and i dont really need the A/C Is there a car that i can swap my accesories and belt routings to, or can i buy brackets that bypass the heads?

Answer:
Allen groove sells brackets for this setup. All your factory brackets for non acc. holes will be for a short water pump and pulley setup Myself, when I was running 462 casting double hump heads, I modded my brackets to work. Alt bracket bolts to long water pump and intake. The on the lower bracket where the single long bolt went through bracket, alt and screws into head.. I just used a short bolt, lock washer and nut. Put bolt through bracket and alt, put lock washer and nut on back side of alt. Worked fine for 5 years, 100+ 1/4 mile passes, 6400 rpm shift points, and 45K street miles. For the power steering it was alittle harder. I had to cut and weld a bracket that bolted to the 1st two exhaust/header bolts and extended out to match up with the bracket on pump.

Question : beginner model train set?
i need ideas for a 6 year old who loves trains, and he wants a model set for Christmas, but i do not know what size will be appropriate for a little kid, it also needs to be something moderately inexpensive, and something the family can build on for years. He has had train sets before we have done this with, but those are for toddlers.Nothing like the Thomas the tank engine train sets, he has out grown that. I am looking for an inexpensive, but sturdy and versatile model train set with lots of accessories like switch tracks. (he likes the trains and tracks not the buildings so much)

Answer:
You have presented a difficult situation here. You have mentioned "inexpensive" twice. That in itself is difficult to define as to what your inexpensive is. The inexpensive "train set" market especially in HO is all but gone. When they were $29.95 "all in one box" sets they were junk and did not run well. Quality costs money.Model Railroading is mostly an adult hobby now - for good or for bad. Some answering this might recommend Lionel 3 rail but I cannot. No real trains had 3 rails, at least how Lionel does it.But if you don't mind spending a bit I can direct you to a New Jersey based company that makes S Scale trains. These are compatible with the American Flyer trains of the 1950s & early 60s but are brand new. They have a lifetime warranty and run very well. You can do "weekend warrior" quickly setting up their sectional train on the living room floor for a few hours or a weekend. They just happen to be having a set sale now. http://www.showcaseline.com/index.htmlBest of all, their products are accurate models and can grow with the child if a more serious interest in MODEL RAILROADING develops.

Question : attention wii players & parents...which accessories do you use the most & for which games?
When i buy nintendo wii for my 8 and 10 year old, what accessories should i plan to start off with? Which games require what accessories? Do I need two of each accessory or will they take turns to play. I see it has wireless capability, do i need to have a wireless connection set up at home or is this just an added feature? Help!!! I want them to be able to play a variety of games right off, but just the basic console starts at $249.00 so we'll have to build up the really cool stuff over time. Also, any opinions on the best games for elementary/middle school age groups? Thanks gamers...

Answer:
Hiya,I'm a wii owner and I think I can help you out! Right now there aren't very many "Must have" accessories , but you'll want to get a extra wii remote and nunchuck as most games where they'll be playing together would require them each to have their own controller. As for kid-friendly games, I suggest Mario Party 8, and Mario Strikers Charged. These are both 1-4 player games that people of all ages can enjoy (You can even play with your kids! All kinds of people are enjoying this console!) The console also comes with a pretty good game, "Wii Sports." which I still play even after owning the system for 5 months.Mario Strikers Charged does have online play, but there's no way to communicate to whoever you're playing with so there's no need to worry about who your kids are meeting online. As for how to get online, you can set up a wifi hub in your house, but if you're not using it for anything else it can be kind of expensive. The other option is to buy a $40 USB Adapater that plugs into the back of your computer and shares the internet connection with the Nintendo. They'll sell this wherever you buy your wii. Online Connectivity is completely optional though, and you don't need it to play games, but there are some neat features that use internet access such as the "Virtual Console" which allows you to download vintage video games straight to the wii, and of course there's games out that allow you to connect with friends from all over the country. You don't really need a memory card right off the bat, as games are saved straight to the system. Memory cards just allow you to keep saving after you run out of space (I don't know any one who has run out of space, you'd have to own pretty much all the games out and half the VC games to do that..)Anyways, good luck! :)

Question : How can I generate electricity to power bicycle accessories?
I saw once on a TV show on the Discovery channel a guy who used magnets and wires on the wheels of his bike to create a sort of alternator to generate power for a GPS unit on his bicycle. He had them routed through a rechargeable battery so the GPS unit would not lose power when he stopped pedaling. I would like to create a similar set up on a motor bike I'm going to be building to power a headlight, tail light, and turn signals. How would I create a similar set up? If I hooked it up to a small, rechargeable motorcycle or ATV battery, would such a set up be enough to power the devices and keep the battery charged? Would I need to include any sort of diodes or voltage regulators?

Answer:
I think that cruiser bikes have their own alternators, just like a car. You might want to research that.Another option is to use a regular car alternator, from a small car.
