Questions & Answers
Question : Math Lovers?
Heres the question : 9 Kids went to a park with bikes and tricycles for use. If every kid had a toy to ride on and there were 21 wheels, how many bikes were there and how many tricycles were there?Suprisingly I couldnt figure it out, hopefully u willHAHA IM SOO STUPID i'm like really smart but I thought bycycles had 4 wheels but I know they have 2! I figured that out right after i wrote this question! haha I'm soo lame but ok yay
Answer:
I love these problems heeeeYou use a system of equationsx = the number of bikes, y = number of tricyclesx + y = 92x + 3y = 21 (because bikes have 2 wheels and tricycles have 3 wheels)Change the first equation into x = 9 - y and substitute it into the second equation, making that2(9-y) + 3y = 2118-2y+3y = 21y + 18 = 21y = 3Then substitute 3 into x = 9 - y, and you get x = 6So there are six bikes and three tricycles.Hope that helped you!--Edit: LMAO I do stuff like that all the time too...

Question : My toddler got scared all of sudden? is this normal?
I'm first time mom. My toddler is 2 and half and he's a boy. And I'm currently pregnant with my second son. As any other little boy, my son loves to play with his toys, he loves the park, he runs around the house. He knows how to ride his tricycle. And when he watches tv, he only watches pbs kids or cartoon movies. A few of his favorites are, Happy Feet, Toy Story, Tarzan, The Lion King..ect. he also likes Diego, Elmo and Mickey. But he's more into big kid characters instead of preschool ones. He's never watched any Batman cartoons or Superman cartoons, but at the store those are the toys he makes me buy him. Action Figures. ..And he loves animals. He has little toys of lions and horses, and a farm. He puts his action figures on top of them and gives them rides. He dances when he hears music he likes. ...ect. Just so you can see what kind of boy he is. To me, this is normal. Now, my son has never exhibit any kind of fear. Only the usual things kids are scared of. He jumps unto the couch when we pass the vaccum, only to beg us to let him pass it too. He holds our hands at any parking lot, and runs into our arms if they turn on a very loud motorcycle close to us. And of course, he doesn't like the dark. He's not traumatized of the dark, but he rather not be in a dark room alone. I see all of this as normal kind of fear.Anyway, at my house there are 3 rooms. Ours, my husband and our toddler. One of them, my brother uses. And the other, is my grandmas. Our room is the farthest away. The other two are right next to each other. And there is one bathroom close to our bedroom. There is a bunk bed in my brother's room which my son loves to climb in and throw balls on the floor for us to pick them up and throw them up at him again. He grabs any room as his play area. And my son is never alone. There is always someone watching him, if i'm not doing it myself. A couple of days ago, we came home pretty late from an outing. There was no one home, but my brother had just gone out and left all the lights on, his bedroom open and his lights on as well. And his room is down a hallway, and you could see inside because the door was open. There is a mirror on the opposite side, that we leave in the closet.(for fear that my son can get his hands on it and it may fall on top of him or it could break) But my brother had used it and left it outside. So my son happily checked himself out in the mirror, and i was standing there watching him smile at his reflection, when all of a sudden he jumped very scared and ran towards me. It caught me of guard because i was there looking at him. It was out of nowhere. (if you can picture this: The mirror was facing my brother's room. My son was looking in the mirror, and my view was the back of the mirror, my son looking at himself, and my brother's room) ..ever since then, my son won't go near my brother's room. I asked him what happened, and he just keeps pointing at my brother's room and says "there". And i ask him "there what?". But he just keeps pointing and he won't go in there to play anymore. I find this very odd, because like i said, he loved to play there in the bunk bed. Now, he seriously won't go near it, and if i ask him to go throw away one of his potty training pants in the bathroom trash, he'll go and run back fast as if he's scared. I don't want to jump to conclusions. I'm thinking that this may be normal, and since it's my first time being a toddler mom, i don't know these things. Can anyone with experience help me? ..Should this worry me?It bothers me, because i know he's afraid of something, but i just don't know what it is. And me and my husband have taken him in there and showed him that there is nothing there to be afraid of. He looks around the room and pulls us out, and he won't go back in. Any insight would really help!!
Answer:
That's odd. Maybe your brother told him a scary story, or maybe he thought he saw something. Kids have active imaginations, he could have imagined something scary.

Question : Toddler tricycle... helmet, knee pads, what do I need?
My daughter is 18 months old and I want to get her a tricycle. I know its a bit young but the neighbor kids have ride-on toys and she is showing a lot of interest. What do I need to get to make it safe for her to ride? She would only be using it on the sidewalk in front of our place, never on a street or without me right there. I guess I am the over protective kind of mom, she won't be riding alone till after she is 10 if I have my way. Is a helmet enough?
Answer:
Yes for a tricycle a helmet is def. enough, and even for a bicycle with training wheels a helmet is enough also. I wouldn't put knees pads or elbow pads on my kid when they are riding a bike, unless maybe it's when they are learning to ride a two wheeler, but that's just me, if u feel better with them on then by all means put them on her, but it really is unnecessary. Hope this helps, :D.

Question : Do you think a tricycle is a good first b/day present?
When do they start riding on a tricycle? My MIL thinks its a brilliant idea to buy my DD a tricycle for her 1st b/day. I thought a child only start enjoying them around the age of 2.The toy will stand around for a whole year!! Unused?Could you please give me other ideas so I can suggest to her?Anyway what is a parent suppose to buy if the in-law buy all the big presents?
Answer:
Well the kid will probably have no use for the bike now, because his/her legs wont be long enough to touch the pedals for and still really learning how to ride; its better off for a 2yr old birthday gift. But who cares if the in laws buy the big presents...trust me I have a 2yr old and I've been there. They are too young to really care. They like something for 2 secs and move on to the next toy. My ex bought my son a powerwheel for christmas and I got my son some cool educational stuff (cuz he likes to learn) and he was way more interested in the little stuff then messin with the powerwheel. Really since its a first birthday and the kid isn't going to remember...you can't really go wrong here.

Question : How can I teach my almost 3 yr old son how to ride a tricycle?
He loves to get on his toys and move around pushing his feet. We actually say he is like the Flintstones. He just does not want to peddle. I am at a loss!
Answer:
Our son does the Flintstones feet! He was still doing it at almost 3. What we did was place his feet on the peddles of the trike and show him how to move the peddles with his feet. It took a little while for him to master it though. Our son could ride a bike before he could ride a trike. My husband suggested that it could be the placement of the peddles to the front of the trike, where a bike peddles are underneath the rider. It seems to be the peddling action that takes some getting used to. Try not to stress though he will get it.

Question : son can't pedal bike, will tricycle be better?
My son will be 4 in a month. He's healthy and active and can't play soccer and baseball, so he's coordinated for his age. My father bought him a bike with training wheels for Christmas. Despite a lot of coaching on my part and a determination on his part (my son) he can't seem to pedal hard enough to get going. He keeps trying to pedal backwards. I've tried showing him the correct way, but he just can't seem to get it. His birtday is coming up and I thought I'd try to get him a different kind of ride on toy that he could learn to pedal on more easily. Any suggestions? Would a tricycle with a back be easier for him to learn to pedal on?I just thought the added back stability would give him something to push against. Also, it would be smaller and give him more leverage to pedal.
Answer:
My little one still has a tricycle, it gets them used to actually pedaling. It's harder than it looks, or that i remember but there's something about it that a lot of kids can't' get (my older child had a hard time with the bike). The tricycle will give him the support he needs to get the pedals around and being lower to the ground will help gain some confidence in pedaling.

Question : What to get 3 year old daughter for birthday?
I'm at a loss. She already has a tricycle, ride on toy, bike with training wheels, puzzles, dolls, farm, pom pons, vanity, riding horse, books galore, balls, Legos, play cell phones, purses, shoes, play make-up, stuff for her hair, play microwave, play food, toy vacuum, etc. I didn't buy all of this stuff as she has relatives that spoil her rotten! She, too, knows her numbers, shapes, and alphabet so we don't need anymore teaching toys. So far I have an Elefun game and a tea party set.Forgot to mention that I'm in an apartment so space is an issue.
Answer:
take her to the zoo with a cake waiting for her. Have a painting party with her little friends...cook some cookies with cute shapes....
