If I were to buy a pigment ink pen and color it, over printed letters on a card and then sprinkle embossing powder on it...then emboss. Would this work?

Yes. You would just need to make sure the markers were for embossing. I have used the Versa Mark marker, but this gives no color. The markers I know of would not stay wet enough for you to emboss with. Uchida Embossing Markers- I have never used these. But have used many other products from Uchida

You can remove the ink with WD-40....a product available at your local hardware store.WD-40 is a household product used to lubricate doors and joints that creak but it also removes ink. Test a small, inconspicuous area first. Then spray the ink area with a thick layer of WD-40. Allow to sit for about a half an hour. Afterward wipe with damp paper towels.I do not recommend nail polish remover or even rubbing alcohol...these could ruin the wood.-
