Question : English paper problems.. help?
We have to write an ap (advance placement) paper.this is the prompt:Please answer the following prompt as thoroughly and insightfully as possible. Present a carefully constructed response that includes support:Regarding F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, describe the authors position regarding the very American concept of the individuals pursuit of happiness.so it has to involve the story, so if you don't know it you can still helpbecause we have to relate it to the pursuit of happiness and the american dreambut something more out there then, freedom.more "honors" writing, unique.if you did read the book then we have to take out an idea from the book and bring it to the next level, regarding the prompt.this is what i have so far...help me out please..In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, the class of society one belongs to or strives to become causes a conflict on the road to true happiness. People will do anything in life to get what they want, with lies and money, in the case of Jay Gatsby. With Fitzgerald blending the classes, the characters are stuck in this time where they first have to feel excepted, and then they can gain love. The American way is to have money and display it. In the case of Daisy and Gatsby, they are both victims of the time in which they live. Daisy is of the upper class and Gatsby did whatever he thought he had to do to win her heart. He required that upper class flair because a great deal of money presents outer happiness. Daisy can't escape her life of displaying fake joy, anymore than Gatsby can escape his. Fitzgerald describes an image of two people caught in an instance when social morals were much different than they are now. Happiness and the “American Dream” is a struggle. The aspiration everyone wants to achieve is nearly possible while being held captive in a world of judgment. Those who do come from other classes seek and envy the glamour and lifestyle that they see in the elite. Being portrayed as happy and socially fit can be a fight in that people may want that life, but are never satisfied. Gatsby obtained wealth, which is what made others draw to him. However, he failed to maintain romance because he became absorbed in what others wanted him to be. Loosing that true sight of what is important to him is tough to handle because of it being just out of reach. Time is uncontrollable and always moving forward. Gatsby wishes to recapture the past, but he ultimately fails. The harder some try to get ahead, the more they are pushed behind. The only thing that one can do is take advantage of opportunities at that moment. The American dream is about the perfect mate and loads of money to go with it. To some people money can buy love, but they are so jaded to see the true reality and how much they depend on having to impress everyone else. Fitzgerald brings about the issues that people had in the 1920’s of belonging and people must follow the unwritten rules of society and class culture.

Question : Intous 4 (Drawing Tablet) Questions -Can you Draw without Looking?
I've finally decided that I want to color things digitally using programs like Photoshop.I want to do this, but I can't do this with a mouse. Not working out...not very controled. So I wanted to invest in a drawing tablet. (I've been all tradtional up until this point.)I just assumed...that drawing tablets would have a display of the image you where coloring...I mean...this is the natural way to color right? Wrong. Intous4...supposedly the best drawing tablet avaliable....has no display. So my question is...to those who have used any version of the Intous or any other drawing tablet...how do you draw wihtout looking? Does this work for you? I mean...with a pencil and paper...you would always see what you draw...reconizing your strokes...and such.... I suppose some amout of hand eye cowardnation is requied but.... Is it just as a effective as drawing on paper? Can you draw just as well as if you were drawing on paper? Do you loose something in the process?Thank you for your time. Please answer my questions ^_^(Also to you who hav used the cintiq...would you recommend it over the Intous or other drawing tablets?)Thank you!
Answer:
Hello!I recommend you 100% to change to a tablet, and maybe will never use the mouse again.Actually Intuos4 is not "the best" but yes, one of them!Answers one by one:Yes, is as effective as drawing on paper. I all my life was drawing on graphite pencil and now I replaced it with the tablet pen!Yes, you can draw very nice on it. On the first weeks you will feel different or something but you will manage it soon. The Intuos is very sensitive and respond just fine, if it laggs or something for sure it will be your computer and not the tablet. And how we use it without looking... Like I said it is VERY sensitive and the tablet read when the pen is close to the surface and it moves the cursor before you touch the surface. So to move the cursor just move the pen close to the tablet and for click (left click on the mouse) just make a single touch with the tip on the tablet surface.(It's easier to use it to explain it haha)So again,You don't need to see the tablet because you can see the movements you are doing realtime on your screen cursor. Also, I thing that all the newest Bamboo products are multitouch so you can use them with the pen or with your finger as a multitouch touchpad.I don't have used the cintiq so I cannot compare but I yes recommend any Bamboo product.by the way, will be nice to you to make a research on youtube, you will be wanting a tablet.Additional details:Photoshop, Corel and other programs have support and uses for "pen sensitive" jobs so the paint, drawing will feel very "real" and natural. for example, when you makes paint strokes on corel it will paint different if you use the pen at 90degrees or as you use it at 45 degrees Or if you use "pencil like" brush as much as you draw as darker it goes!

Question : i need help with a quote for an english paper?

"Death is something you can not avoid, no matter how hard you try. live your life to the fullest, and live out your life until the day comes."2. "Everyone must die sooner or later, so live the unlived life, until it is time for god to call you home."3. "The game of life is simple, press the button and you loose, dont press it, and you win."4. "There comes a time in our lifes when death knocks on the door, when the time comes i'll be ready."

I would say 1 or 4 too.But if you are afraid of death I'd lean more towards 1, since 4 is saying you'll be ready when death comes.

Question : I cant draw in my sketchbook?
Hello =)I'm having real trouble drawing in my sketchbooksI have about 6 sketchbooks with nothing in them i draw on loose paper then put them in a big purple folderI'm pretty sure i'm sacred of messing up a picture and not being able to tear it outI'm just not sure how to get over it?Anything useful will be helpful =DThanks =)
Answer:
A sketchbook isn't the place where all your best art work is going to be. In fact, it's where most of you worse ones will be. A sketchbook is simply a place for you to practice freely. It's only meant for your eyes if you want it to be! I mean I keep my sketchbook under my bed! No one in my family even knows I keep one. And I assure you the drawings in my sketchbook are no where near perfect. It's all experimentation. It's where I try out new ideas and techniques, and also where I practice the things I'm worst at doing. Don't be afraid to mess up in your sketchbook. In fact, even when you're drawing on big paper, don't be scared to mess up, even though you might. I mess up in my drawings...a LOT, but people love them so much. It's those little mess ups that you hate which make your drawings so original sometimes. So just drawww. And if I were you I'd put those loose paper drawings in your sketchbook, just so you have somewhere where all your drawings are together. :)

Question : Does any one know a good web site where I can buy?
recycled products, like notebook and loose leaf paper? Or paper made from alternative sources? I'm trying to teach my 6 year old daughter about conserving our environment. She loves to draw and write little books, and I love that she is so creative, but she uses so much paper. I would love to find some paper for her that is more environmentally friendly. Thanks!I don't have many choices as far as shopping, I'm living overseas (military family). The PX doesn't carry recycled products. That's why I want an internet site.
Answer:
http://www.state.nj.us/dep/dshw/recyclenj/It has tons of links to buy all kinds of recycled products, from papers to clothing.

Photoshop. If you don't already have photoshop you can a) Buy Photoshop, or b) Use someone's computer that does have photoshop, like a friend's, or teacher's, or computer lab if you have one in your school.

Question : My school issues are affecting my health?
It all started when I was told I was suspended for next tuesday (Today). This caused me to go into panic when I first heard those words. On the Friday before my meet with the principle I had been in last period study hall when I decided to sclean out my locker. The teacher we have study hall with allows 3 people at a time to their lockers to clean them. We take her recycling bin out into the hall to dispose of all loose papers or unwanted items and such. It was already a half hour into the study all when we did this and the recycling bins get cleaned out at 12 pm each day. It was about 2:30 so all of it would have to wait to be disposed of till the next day at 12 pm. I am an artist and I am indeed a "Furry" . For a commision I was requested to do a nude picture of someones character for a reference sheet. The result was a simple feminine body shape with some fur markings. The only thing on it that was slightly wrong for school was breasts and nipples. It was not posed in any pin up kinda thing or anything like that. Just a simple, arms out to show detail, legs together, kinda of thing. It had gotten mixed in with my school papers so I guess I had just not have been paying attention when packing my homework up for that night and scooped up ALL the papers on my desk at the time. I found it in my backpack and decided to get rid of it since I figured I could draw much better detailing and make it look better than it did. A few minutes later the recycling bin had gotten too full between the 3 of us emptying our trash into it so we kicked the papers down, making the drawing surely go deep to the bottom of the trash and be very crumbled. Skipping ahead to after the weekend i began to feel sick and i stayed home for 3 days after monday because i felt fine on monday until that night. On the day I got back I had gone about my day normally until 3rd period and then the teacher said the vice principle wanted to see me. I was confused as to why i would be called down like this so I spent my whole walk to the office scraping my mind for anything i did wrong, missing too many days of school,my haircolor (Its dyed with multiple colors which isnt in the handbook for a Catholic school),or something else? When I sat down he showed me the picture and my heart sank. The first thing he said was that the study hall teacher was NOT snooping and In my mind i asked myself "Then WHAT WAS she doing!?" and he began his speach on how these were not appropriate for school. My art style is very distinct and my artwork has been on hallway walls enough that people know me as "that artist girl". It was no error it was indeed mine. I explained to him how It was not supposed to be at school and he said it was still inappropriate. The teacher that found these pictures not only strongly dislikes me for multiple reasons (She,herself, is very very crooked by telling us not to go for our dreams and that if we do we will crash and live a poor life) but all students seem to have issues with her. Anyways, I recieved a one day suspension (Today) and no one will listen to me. Ontop of all this im getting 4 Fs on my report card that same day and that made my guardians furious ontop of all this. They must come to the school on Friday to see the picture and in a result the stress of all this is making me not notice that i dont eat for an entire day and when i do eat I feel very sick afterwards. I cant stop thinkig about this and im very very worried and my guardians say that ill probally have to change schools and im going to flunk and all these things. No one but my boyfriend is on my side. This is a catholic school. What should I do...? And no, I am in no way lying and I tried to be as descriptive as possible to ensure a good answer. Please help me. I need to know if this is harrassment or something..?
Answer:
What blew my mind was when you said your teacher tells students not to follow their dreams because they will crash and burn!! Bitter, much? Unfortunately, a lot of teachers HATE their jobs and their lives in general. I've had a lot of "gems" for teachers (I too was in a Catholic school grades K-3) in my day... and here's the deal, I guess. Unfortunately, Catholic schools are going to be assholes about expressing ones self. I mean, they make everyone wear uniforms, you all have to believe in the same thing... it's very oppressing and sad in my opinion. Someone with such an amazing talent and personality like yourself shouldnt have to go through this! At a public school, teachers are pretty laid back, in fact they almost go as far as to not even give two shits about students unless they're jocks or preps. Vice principals will usually always be assholes, though. I was once given a Saturday detention for something that wasnt even my fault (long story but it ended with the girl's mom actually serving the detention with me and the other people she got in trouble, haha) and when the VP asked me if I had ever had a detention before, I said, "no." This was my senior year and she knew this. She smirked at me and said, "well, I think it's good for ALL students to experience this." WTF. You say the study hall teacher just so happened to find this piece of paper in the trash... I find that very odd. Of course there was snooping going on, they're assholes. It was in the trash, it wasnt on display or anything and even if it was, it's a DRAWING!!! The unfortunate thing is, they will not negotiate with you in a Catholic school. What they say, goes. It sucks. My best advice to you would be to just talk to your guardians about the whole situation, and tell them your perspective. It's all you can do. I know you'll be nervous the whole time they're at your school, but maybe if you try to explain to them passionately how you feel and what's been going on, they will understand. Sorry things cant be better for you. I wonder if you can convince your guardians to just transfer you to a public school. I think you might be a little happier there!

Question : How do you erase charcoal off of white drawing paper after fixative has already been sprayed on it?
i have to do one of those drawings in art class where you cant tell if its white on black or black on white [like a checker board]well, i taped off the whole thing [where i wanted it to be white] then put charcoal on the rest of the paperi then sprayed it with fixativethen peeled off the tapewell..when i peeled off the tape some charcoal got on the white.. i tried removing it with bread [which worked for the loose charcoal]but what do i do about the charcoal thats on the white that was sprayed with fixative?.. i tried a kneeded eraser and bread but nither worked
Answer:
Fixative is meant to help charcoals, pastels, and other smearable media to stay put. There is such a think as a "workable" fixative that allows an artist to erase and revise, but apparently this is not the one you used. No matter what eraser you use, there will definitely be a shadow left on the paper, and if you try erasing too hard, you'll end up ripping your paper.

Question : How can I make this look neat? (School glossary project)?
For my English project I have to make a Glossary of 20 words. On a whatever book you read. I read teh twilight series. And we only had to read one book. I read four. But for this glossary I have to write 20 words I don't know in the book. And get the real deffiniton then use it in a sentence. But , my problem in my printer is broken so I cannot type it. And there isn't a library or anywhere I can go to type it. So therefore I have to hand write it. That is fine with the teacher but... My handwriting is horrible. And I don't think it would look neat and nice on Loose leaf paper. So I was think about doing it on Computer Paper or thick paper.... But , I cant draw without lines. And rulers I can't hold straight. So is there anyway to make my writing look neat. And make my project look neat?
Answer:
Don't you have computer access at school? You can send it to yourself in an e-mail and print it out in the library at the school. I am sure that your school has one. ~M~
