Questions & Answers
Question : What glue should I use to attach paper to plastic folders?
I am a school teacher who is trying to attach paper labels to plastic 2 pocket folders in an inexpensive but durable way. In the past, I have purchased labels with adhesive already on the back. However, those can be very pricey. I have access to white glue, glue sticks, and foam glue. Any other inexpensive glue would be fine also.
Answer:
I would def. try to use rubber cement first. if that doesnt work hot glue.also i know you didnt ask this but there are some teacher crafts on a website http://diyideas.web.com that are cool

Question : What glue to use for car front door mirror?
Some a**hole hit my car and damaged my driver's side mirror and took off. The plastic part where it attaches to the car body has broken, but the mirror is not. I'd like to use glue to glue it together as I have no money to fix it but not sure what to use. I've used Epoxy glue but it failed. What kind of plastic was used in that part of the car? What glue will do the trick?Make is Toyota and it's a 01 Prius. Thanks!
Answer:
Gorilla Glue or JB Weld would probably work for a while but nothing will last very long due to vibrations and weather. It will eventually fail. The problem with any type of glue is that it needs time to set and may need to be clamped. You may get by with gluing it up and keeping it in place with duct tape until the glue sets. I'd do it in the evening and let it set up over night.

I want to make some detailed macaroni pictures (where you glue small dry pasta shapes onto cardboard tag to make a picture) and I want it to last a long time. So what glue would be best for this? I worry that something like white glue (like Elmers or school glue) will eventually fail because. What do you suggest?

Question : What is the best glue to use to art sculptures?
So I usually use a hot glue gun, it works alright, I just do not like how my sculptures and art projects have hot glue strings everywhere, (it makes it look like I did projects fairly quickly and doesn't look 100%) which there is nothing wrong with that sometimes. So would gorilla glue be a good glue to use? Or any other suggestions?any other glue?
Answer:
Not Gorilla Glue, which requires clamping and foams up. Look at E6000 which is a thinner self leveling silicone craft glue intended to be used as a contact glue (apply, touch parts, pull apart, hold 20-30 seconds, touch and it won't move) The various Goop glues are the same stuff from the same company but each is modified in some way - Marine has increased UV protection and stands up more, Craft is somewhat less flowing than E6000. I will caution you that E6000 will stink up the whole house real quickly and should be used with ventilation while the Goop versions I have used are not quite as strong smelling. All these glues can also be used like 100% Silicone adhesive - apply, put parts together, wait until set - overnight - but they need support with tape or props to keep from sliding. Practice the contact method.

Question : How do I remove glue from the top of my hardwood floors?
How do I get the Bruce Everwood glue off of the top of my wood floors? The installer walked around on the floors after he glued them down and I have about 300 square feet of new wood floor with hardened glue spots all over it. I called and his number is disconnected. I called the BBB and they said he is not listed as having a business license-I guess he just had business cards. Now this small project has become a mess. I have tried water and wood cleaner, but this glue is stuck like tar on these floors.

Question : What glue would you use to stick polymer clay to a metal tray?
I made a really cute wall-hanging for a kitchen by crafting pretend cookies out of polymer clay and gluing them to a metal baking sheet. I used e6000 glue which fell apart right away. What is the best glue to use if I want this to be permanent? Also, what glue would you use to attach a metal hanging hook to the back of the tray? (The first time I glued it, I forgot to sand off the no stick teflon from the cookie sheet. This time I would sand the tray before gluing, but first I need to figure out the most permanent gluing option.) Thanks so much!
Answer:
Cute idea with the cookies and tray!! Rhino Gluehttp://rhinoglue.com/uses.htmlI have had very good, permanent results from this glue!It is money well spent! I have glued glass together, vinyl to glass, a very porous pumice type stone that broke in half and is used for "rubbing cement block". And it is holding together fine. I even glued my toilet paper dispenser to the wall (crazy huh?), for years I have tried many options to fasten it tight to the wall. You know one side is secure in the wood stud, and the other side flopping around. Poor soul that has to remove this dispenser now that I fixed it with Rhino glue. I am sure Rhino Glue will work on your cookies to tray, and many other household fixes. Good Luck with your crafting endeavors!

Question : What adhesive is used to glue soles onto shoes? should I use Rhino Glue?
I'm planning on sticking 3 shoe soles on top of each other in order to make this thing called a Jump-sole. I would like to know what type of glue is used to glue on shoes or any other glues which would be a good idea; I have read that gorilla glue expands, rhino glue doesn't stick as hard as gorilla, Elmer's, liquid nail & ETC. What are your thoughts?
Answer:
I'm not that familiar with Rhino Glue, but polyurethane glues like Gorilla Glue will hold practically anything... it is yellow and does swell while curing though so needs to be clamped or weighted during that time and any excess wiped off that extrudes in the beginning minutes. Don't remember how flexible it is after drying though, which could matter for something like this. The types of glue used for rubber soles are usually the silicone type glues though since they're flexible and reasonably strong, and "Shoe Goo" is the one marketed for using with shoe soles in particular. That glue probably also needs clamping or weighting though to work best...read on the instructions area.

Question : What glue is strongest for gluing wood together?
I've heard of rhino and gorilla glue, but is there anything stronger? If not, which glue is the strongest of the ones that I have already listed?
Answer:
Definitely go for the liquid nails. you can get a squeeze tube for small projects, or a caulk gun tube, depending on your needs. The stronger stuff you'll need a caulk gun for

Question : How can I get glue off an old photograph?
I found a photograph that I took about 5 years ago with my old 35 mm camera. I do not have the negatives anymore, and unfortunately I tried to be creative and glued a whimsical saying in the upper corner. Now I am left with a glue mark with some of the paper. Is there a save way to remove the paper along with the glue? I don't want to destroy the photo, it is special to me, and the only copy I have. I have tried to scan it on my computer, but you can still see the marks from the glue. Any suggestions?
Answer:
Well, you risk destroying it unless you take it to a professional. If you're not willing to pay a large amount, I'd take something like isopropyl alcohol and rub it off. It might only be bonded to the glossy layer on top, which would make it easy to remove. Make sure you test the alcohol on a sample first---it could damage the photo.
