Questions & Answers
Question : Why is my PS3 disc art scratching but not my PS2 disc art?
This problem really confuses me. The disc art is where the data is stored and every now and then i find a new scratch. In turn my games will freeze or not start. All the discs that have scratches are less than a year old. I have about 8 PS2 games now and all of their disc art is fine. I know this problem has something to do with how i treat the discs but i've treated my PS2 discs way worse than this and they are all still fine. It is not the PS3 systems fault i'm sure.

Answer:
It all leads to ps3. Sounds like heat

Question : How do you do the scratch art with oil pastels?
I remember doing it in grade school, but I'm not sure of the process anymore.

Answer:
Lets see if I can remember, its been a very long time. On a sturdy piece of white cardboard color the whole sheet with your pastels (pretty colors, blobs or patterns makes no difference) or maybe even crayons would work, then paint on a solid layer of black india ink (the kind used for calligraphy) and let dry completely (thick black tempra paint might work too) then after you should be able to scratch off the black coating to to expose the pretty colors underneath. Remember to think in reverse (like a negative) expose the "highlights" for the best effect.I think this was the way we did it in school but I'm not 100% positive, might take some experimenting. If all this is to much of a pain, your local art store should sell, at the very least, the black and white type of pre-fabricated scratch board. I remember using that in high school art classes.

Question : What is the best tool to use when working scratch art paper?
I went to an art store yesterday and purchased some black scratch paper because i want to make a black and white poster. But when i asked the workers what to use when scratching they didn t know? I usually use a push pin, but i find that it scratches off the white part, leaving lines. I have seen other peoples scratch work and the white is smooth with no scratch marks. How do they do it so smoothly? Is there a special sharp device that they use? What would you reccomend to use for scratching .I need to shade off large portions and small portions as well. Please help?

Answer:
Try a plastic pick-nick knife or spoon.

Question : I'm looking to do Scratch-Art, what materials do I need?
What is the best type of paper to use? Also, what type of paint is needed?More specifically, what type of black paint do I use? Acrylic? Oil?

Answer:
get a speed ball pen and a scratch point nib or any nib will work. there are also sets that come with everything that u need. Visit a local art store and they should have all the materials that you need. They have all kinds of scratch art paper. silver foil, rainbow, black and white, even glitter. They are really fun and easy to use. I sell them all the time at the store that i work at. http://www.millerartandframe.com If you are ever in the berkshires in mass. we have an awsome art store there. It is called miller supply co. Inc. We also depending on what u buy we can ship meterails. You can email my boss Steve and he will answer any questions that you have about it. We also have a mailing list if you want to join. Also when i was in high school we used crayons put the color you want underneath then cover it with a black crayon and your set to go. but usualy they sell the scratch paper already made.

Question : Scratch art in portofolio?
ive tried those little scratch art kits from michaels and i really like the techniques. Ive been making my own paper with aluminum foil and black paint but i was wondering if i do a drawing like this if it would be worthy enough to put in my portofolio for college?

Answer:
Yes it would, it is called mixed media.

Question : Where can I find Scratch-Art Paper?
Where can I find black & White Scratch-Art Paper? Like a whole kit or something. I don't want to buy just one paper but a bundle of them with the scratch pen also.

Answer:
This sounds really obvious, but try looking at an art store like Michaels or something. I don't know if you have art stores like that near you, but a craft store is bound to have things like that. They have kits and everything.

A popsicle stick would be a good scraper. You could vary the width of your scrape but not scratch off too much..
