Editorial Review :

Rolling your own beeswax candles is an incredibly easy craft. Our kit contains twelve 8"-sq. sheets of sweet-smelling beeswax in fall colors, plus 6 yds. of wicking and detailed instructions with decorating ideas. You'll find everything you need to make 12 straight-sided or 24 tapered candles. Did you know? It takes 160,000 bees to travel 150,000 miles in order to collect enough nectar to produce 60 lbs. of honey? And only then does it yield 1 lb of beeswax. Pure 100% beeswax candles burn at a rate of 1 to 1-1/2" per hour and should be arranged about 4 inches apart out of the way of drafts. Candles should be stored at room temperature. Made in the USA. For ages 5 and up. Size:8"-sq. sheets.

Questions & Answers
Question : Where can I find Candle Magic, Distlefink Designs/Craft House Corp?
It's a candle making kit.

Answer:
Try Dezinews.com

Question : Where to buy kids/teens craft kits?
To make things like candles, purses, ect?I live in the USA =0

Answer:
Wal-Mart is a good bet. Or I suppose the American version is K-Mart? or Zellers? I don't know. But any of those big stores have large amounts of craft stuff. Depending on what you want to make, you might have to buy the parts separately, but you'll save money not buying from specialty craft stores.

Question : What do you have for a hobby?"?
Ok so basically my BF thinks I need a hobby. He loves to work on his motorcycle, truck, woodworking, welding etc. I would also like to add that pretty much anything that is left after monthly expenses goes to his hobbies. Pretty much the guy is never bored but always broke. Me on the other hand I don’t do much. Sleeping is not a hobby yet I think I could make it one. I sometimes play video games and I lose interest within 10 or 15 minutes, no matter the game. I am not artsy, mechanically inclined, and because of a knee injury I am limited as to what I can do outside. I don’t like wasting money so the idea of having to invest in something that is not important seems ridiculous to me. However he thinks I need to do something other then clean and sleep (which is pretty much what I do when I am not working) My biggest problem is that I get bored with everything. I start a model I don’t care to finish it. I can do word puzzles and such but have never finished a book. I do read but usually it’s to kill time on a bus (I don’t drive). I have had a few things I thought might be cool like building a gas powered car/plane but the starter kit is several hundred and upgrade and extra parts makes that price even higher. I will never spend that kind of money on what I consider being a “toy” and not needed in “real” life. I have asked coworkers and friends that have hobbies and they like to make jewelry, crafts, clay work, cooking, sewing, stained glass, writing, soap or candle making, designs on shirts (like a printing press) and none of that interests me and most of it costs a ton of money to get supplies, tools, colors, etc. I can’t imagine spending 50 bucks or more on something I probably won’t finish and that will get stored away and eventually throw away because I needed to “try” something new.It boils down to the fact that when I am bored I sleep because I am really not interested in anything. I don't know what I can do that won't cost me money or VERY little money and that will keep me interested for more then a few minutes. I also am not a people person so things like volunteering at a soup kitchen are out. I could volunteer at an animal shelter except I don't drive and even the closest one on a bus would take hours of travel time.So I figured maybe the people on here would have a suggestions.

Answer:
I suggest doll houses. While it's true some can be very expensive, you can buy plans cheaply online and make the actual houses out of foamcore. Check out this book. http://store.doverpublications.com/0486234932.html they make this house out of wood, but as I said you can make it out of foamcore. I recommend it because foamcore is easier to cut and you don't need anything fancier than an X-Acto knife and a straight edge. Then you have the option of either buying furniture for it, for making all the furniture yourself. (That's really fun.) If you buy the house furniture that can get really expensive. However, a lot of the fun of doll houses that are hobbies and not collector doll houses, is in using what you find to create art.For example, those plastic toy fans, make great spiral staircases. Those cheap plastic combs with no handles (not a long black ones the ones with about three or four teeth) make excellent headbaords for beds.An aspirin bottle embellished with buttons and little bits of lace and spray-painted gold, can make a great antique water heater. A cardboard egg carton cut into pieces and make excellent stones for a path or a Castle Interior. Small patterned wrapping paper makes excellent wallpaper.felt makes good carpet.None of these ideas are very expensive. Some foam core board, a book of plans, and X-Acto knife are all you really need. You can spend more money on it later once you discover how much you love it. :-) by the way, if you want to see a realy cool dollhouse that can never be considered a toy, check out this dollhouse. http://www.msichicago.org/whats-here/exhibits/fairycastle/

Question : Why can i not stick with a hobby/pastime, I'm always bored!?
I am married to my wonderful husband. Im a full time student majoring in biology at a wonderful university. I have 3 dogs, a cat and a bearded dragon. The problem is that i get on these kicks or phases and then move on quickly.Examples:Ferrets, we got two ferrets, and then ended up saving 3 more that were going to be destroyed. 6 months later i just didnt have the time or drive to take care of their extream needs, so we rehomed them. Fish, I got a fish tank, then found another fully stocked one on craigslist for free, so i had two rather large fish tanks to care for. I had great fun at first, but then lost the will to provide the maintenance on them.Cross stich, I picked up cross stitching and did it for about a week, now i have all the materials in a tool kit that have been collecting dust ever since. Sewing, same thing as cross stitch.I have done every craft/hobby at any hobby store: sewing, candle and soap making, quilting, cross stitch, painting, models, EVERYTHING.I am also an avid video gamer, and have been playing my current game for more than 5 years, my dogs are over 5 years old and my cat has been around for almost 2 years. So there are things in my life that i do hang on to and dont lose intrest in. What can i try to occupy my time?It seems that I am very bored and trying to fill my life with something. When i chose something to fill that spot i do it HARD for a while then i get bored with it. I feel very unfufilled in life, even though im on my way to becomming a doctor. My husband is not the issue, he is wonderful...am i just crazy??Addition:I have tried musical instraments (flute and sax) got to be average with them, then got bored.I get jobs and quit after a few weeks. (i even worked so hard i got a raise my second week, but left anyway).I have worked with animals at shelters voulenteering my time, but then dont want to go back.I have also started a blog, worked hard on it for about 3 days non-stop, then quit.Believe me, if you think about it, i have tried it!

Answer:
I can relate. I think you just haven't something yet that is important enough for you to stick to. You can try writing a blog, starting a business, playing a musical instrument, volunteering.Keep looking and you'll find a purpose for your life.

Question : Where can I get a good starter kit for candle making?
I want to learn a new craft this year, and Im really drawn to candle making. Im seeing a lot of beginner kits at many different places online and in-store. Does someone have any recommendations for a good kit for a beginner to try? Thanks so much!

Answer:
Lone Star has kits for each kind of candle making - soy, bees wax, paraffin, etc. They offer kits with votive and pillar style candles as well as basic candles in their kits. http://www.lonestarcandlesupply.com/candlemakingstarterkits.htmlIt includes just about everything you need - so you aren't trying to do a make do production.Kit Includes: * 1 Mini Pouring Pot (1.5 lb capacity) * 1 Economy Thermometer * 1 (4 oz) Apple Jack & Peel fragrance oil * 1 (4 oz) Blueberry Cobbler fragrance oil * 1 Dye Block #1 (Red) * 1 Dye Block #16 (Royal Blue) * 1 (10 lb) slab of IGI 4636 wax * 1 bag of 100 Zinc Wicks 51-32-18 6 in. * 1 roll of 100 Container Caution Labels (1.25 in.) * 24 (6.5 oz) Classic Jars with gold lids * 24 Glue Dots * 12 Wick Bars * Detailed Instruction SheetThis kit should yield approximately (24) 6.5 oz. candles.Other kits I have seen expect you to have worked with candles before - and if this is a first time adventure - I think you money is well spent - you aren't missing a critical item in the middle of production. After you have made candles for a while - then it is fine to decide how to go and get a kit that just includes wax, color and scent.

Answer:
Sounds like you've got a great plan and I'm sure she will appreciate all of the thought you put into it. For the gifts, I think you are on the right track with something you make. I've included a link to a website that I think might give you some ideas. They do sell stuff, (of course) but you should be able to find most of it locally inexpensively so you don't need to buy online. Look around the site and it may give you some ideas. They've got pictures of a lot of inexpensive things you can make yourself like dipped pretzels, marshmallows or oreo cookies. They also have cute ideas for little gift baskets or bags - Coffee mug with candy inside, Using an oven mitt as a gift basket container, etc.

If you know there email address or homepage address could you please let me know what it is, Thanks in advance for any help.

Answer:
