I'm inventing something new for my econ project. I'm using a REAL skateboard, not ones you use your fingers with. It must be a toy or a game. I have a great idea for this prototype.

Well, I bought this fingerboard ( toy skateboard that you ride with your fingers) off eBay and I brought it to school that day. My so called "friend" saw it and took great interest in it. That night he goes on eBay and buys the exact same one.When I say to him that he copied me, he just says I'm jealous. What can I say to him to make him feel bad, and regret buying it? Question : How do I explain to my neighbor/friend I don't want my kids playing with her son anymore?
My neighbor wants to do something with the kids tonight. I already have plans to take them to 'the movie in the park'. I'd feel bad telling her we have plans and not inviting her. I love my neighbor she is a wonderful person but her son is just... awful and I'd rather him not be around my kids. He is almost five now and has always had not just a hitting problem but going out of his way to try and hurt my kids. He has thrown a car at my (then 18month) daughters face and busted her eyebrow open. Hits my son constantly (my son is 1.5 years older), and apologizes right afterwords saying 'sorry, it was an accident'. I don't understand how you can have 10 of the same 'accidents' during one play date. Recently he purposely slammed my daughters fingers with his skateboard (smooshing them between the curb and skateboard). Also when we were at the pool last week my now 2.5 yr old daughter (swims) was swimming to the steps and he was standing on the bottom step moving in front of her so she couldn't get on the steps. When she poked her head up out of the water to get a breath, he pulled her mask down and pushed her back....WTF. The worst part is his mother does NOTHING.... NOTHING. Sometimes she will call him by his full name(oh, wow..) and tell him to stop, or threaten taking him home but that's it. I don't know what to do, it's such violent behavior and I don't want my kids exposed to that, it's only a matter of time before they really get hurt. What would you say to her? I love her as a friend but her parenting skills(lack there of) suck and her son is horrible. Honestly I do feel bad for her she works a lot, her sons father died last year and I would like to help, but I can't keep letting my kids go threw this. My kids like playing with Shane for some reason.... they have lots of other friends (none of which hit) so it's not like they are deprived of friendship or something. My neighbors son is very spoiled and always has all the coolest and newest toys, I don't know if maybe that has something to do with my kids liking him...When the kids do get together, I make sure it is very clear to all of them that if ANYONE hits or is being 'nasty' we are going home. This hasn't seem to make any difference to her son. WHAT WOULD YOU DO/SAY??? I want to be polite. Thanks everyone.Fyi Emily~ This behavior is NOTHING new, they have lived next door to us for 3 years. He is getting older and his behavior is still the same. His father wasn't around for the first 3 1/2 years of his life, only came to see him on bdays(at least he did that, I guess). It wasn't until maybe six months before he had a methadone overdoes and died, that he started visiting more often and by more often I mean seeing him once every month instead of once a year. I feel awful for Shane, once his father was getting his sh!t together(or so we thought) and being more involved in Shanes life.. he dies. Heart breaking. I have always felt bad for his mother having to do this all by herself, she does have her parents that live close by, they have always been more than supportive and helpful but it's just not the same.

You can just say that it's family time, if she requires an explanation.As for your neighbors bratty little kid - he's 5? He's (and she is as well) going to get a big shock when he starts kindergarden in the fall. That is not appropriate behaviour and the school will not allow it.Until then, you have a couple of options - make excuses when her child wants to play with yours - like "we already have plans", "we've got play date set" etc. She may start to pick up on the fact that you aren't letting the kids play with her son... eventually she is going to inquire as to why the kids aren't playing together anymore and you are going to have to tell her.I honestly don't see anything wrong with telling her that you don't like it when her son hurts your children and it makes you worry for their safety when he plays with them. And if it continues then you're very sorry because you like her as a friend, but you will be forced to make the decision to keep them apart.Bullying is serious no matter what age - because it grows into something bigger. And as I tell my 4 year old - and he can understand it - "Sorry doesn't mean anything if you keep doing it."I can tell you why he continues to hit - somewhere down the line someone didn't get after him properly the first time he did it, probably reinforced the negative behaviour with all the coolest toys. He's never learned what I try to teach my son - Action, Reaction, Consequence. It also would help if someone taught her child to empathize. If she won't do anything, you can say to him "Shane, how would you like it if *** did that to you? You wouldn't would you? Well, don't do it to *** or one time *** will turn around and do it to you.You also need to make sure your children know that NOTHING gives anyone the right to treat them like that, and that just because this kid has the coolest toys doesn't mean that he's worth being around if he hits or bites or whatever. Eventually, when no one will play with this child, he and his mother will realize that their behaviour isn't acceptable.That child needs a good swat on the backside, a firm time out, and maybe to start losing those newest and coolest toys... obviously if he throws a toy at someone - he doesn't want that toy to begin with.Your children's safety and well being comes first - and to stop the bullying, they need to be able to turn around and say to that person "I don't like it when you do that. It hurts me, and if you keep doing it, I'm not going to play with you anymore."

Just went to SM Megamall last Sunday, they have plenty in both Toy Kingdom and the Toys section of the Dept. Store. I'm sure they have it in SM North, as well. Toys'R'Us in Rob Ermita and Gale should have it, too.
