Questions & Answers
Question : Making my own electric scooter.....?
I'm 14. I am wanting 2 start a project. I have this electric fan motor ( it looks just like the one in one of the links below..) but anyways, i have the motor and the electric socket that plugs into the wall i took that off and took a scissor, a knife and a finger nail clip and cut down some of the outer cable holding the copper wires and now the wires are exposed. I would buy a razor a2 scooters ( u know those lil kick scooters a kiddie would have LOL ). I would also buy one of those power wheel or fisher price riding toy batteries. They are like 6, 12, 24 volts. I would buy one of them 2.SO, I would have:A kick scooterAn electric fan motorA battery that's strong enough to produce some powerI would try to fit the spinning piece into on side the the back scooter rims. I would take off one of the bolts and try to fit the spinning piece into it. If it doesn't fit I would try to add a sprocket to the motor and a sprocket the the back tire. I would probably run a chain or make the two sprockets touch each other. Would ride it but if im too heavy my little brother would sure enough find a use for it.IDK, any more ideas? They will be sooo much appreciated!!! As u can see I guess u can say I have a creative mind. I love to build stuff. I love airplanes, helicopters, birds, anything that flies. I would like to be an engineer for helicopters and/or planes. I would also like to have a flying license. Have my own hangar with a helicopter or airplane in it. HERE ARE THE LINKS I WAS TALKING ABOUT SO MUCH....( Ohh Yeah, again, more ideas and advice would be SO SO SO SO SO much appreciated. )http://www.shaded-pole-motor.com/products/electric_fan_motor/electric%20fan%20motor.jpghttp://ecx.i mages-amazon.com/images/I/31FXR345S4L.jpghttp://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41NDH1A712L.jpg
Answer:
Shaded pole motors run from AC current. Batteries put out DC current. Can you see a problem here? As well, if you took the motor out of a fan that plugs into the wall, it needs 120 Volts to run. Your battery likely puts out only 6 or 12 Volts. Can you see another problem hers? What you need is a 6 Volt or 12V DC gear motor with a built in gearbox to reduce the revs to a useful level. As well, what are you going to use for a variable speed motor control? Generally a pulse width modulated control is used so as not to waste battery power like a rheostat would. It is great to have ideas and some day you may make a living from them like I do. You just need a little work on some fundamentals

Question : does autism get worst by time?
Hi, my son is 3.7 yrs has delayed speech. Dr. evaluated him for autism almost a year ago (November 2008) which came out as negative. His pre school suggested us to go for special service evaluation. We initiated that process on (May 2009) which took around 3 months. Special services suggested that he has many markers for autism and comes under the spectrum. They recommended him for special services. There is definitely a significant delay in his speech but on the other hand he shows some good signs also. Some of the thing which he does.1.He is very emotional 2.He understands our facial expression weather we are upset or happy.3.He display good gestures (pointing finger at things he wants/ facial expressions)4.He pretend plays5.If any once gets huts he will leave every thing and asks if he’ OK.6.Love to play with his Dad jumps around, plays hide and seek.7.Loves his younger brother 8.Do not have any sensory problem.9.Never hurts anybody.10.Do not have any problem with 11.Follow commands. Not always but 60% of time12. Respond to his name 50% of timeProblem areas1.He has speech delay. He is coming up with sentence now though.“He can say . Mamma where are you.” “I want water.“I want to go park”“I want to play puzzle”“This is my scooter” I this he has a vocabulary of around 100-150 words 2.His social behavior is not great. He do not play with kids if we take him to a new place. He has few friends with whom he like to ply but do not play with other kids in his pre-school. He prefer to play alone But when we leave him for play dates at this friend’s place he really enjoys. He didn’t even ask for mom or daddy when he’s at his friends place. He’s good with other family members (Aunt/uncle/cousins)3.Sometime he refer him self by his name.4. Shows repetitive behaviors at time. Play with the same toys Now that he is diagnosed with autism no sure if it is the right diagnosis. He will start going for special service soon. We hope thing will improve there and he will gain on his speech. If anyone can tell if special service will help him with his speech and social skills or if there is any thing else we can do. And does autism get worst by time?.I hope he “out grows” from the spectrum.
Answer:
You have been blessed with a very special child. He is going to have some special needs, and I assume that he has an IEP from the school already. He will need speech therapy, occupational therapy, and possibly some other therapies. Overwhelming, I know.Go to regular Yahoo! and type in the name of your state and developmental disabilities department. That should give you the portal for services through your state for your son.The good thing about autism is that it is not a disease - it does not get worse. With therapies, the management of his disorder helps him cope better with the outside world. Learn more about what it is like to be autistic.Find a local support group for moms with kids with developmental disabilities - I'm sure that there is one, and it will benefit you. Here's another resource: http://twittermoms.com - they have 2500 moms of kids with special needs.
